A return to the original 2D (in HD) games... no more warebears or stupid shit hopefully, just back to what everyone used to love about Sonic games... hopefully?

Coming out in 2010, I guess we'll see. I was a Sega kid growing up so I would love nothing more than to see a decent Sonic game get thrown back into the wild.

I personally never found the appeal of the Sonic games. I sat down to beat both the first and second Genesis ones back in the day, got to the last world on each, then just stopped playing due to lack of interest.

I thought the Sonic Adventure games for the DC were the best, personally.

You got that far? The first Sonic was actually pretty hard, at least when I was 14 or so.

Oh yeah, I just found them repetitive and didn't care anymore

The first Sonic was absolutely brilliant, the bonus levels perhaps the most brilliant. There were a few good sequels - the Sonic for the 32X was a spectacular game nobody ever played, because it was on the 32X - but generally, it's been all downhill from there. Nobody's ever figured out how to make a really successful 3D Sonic game (hint: volume and playspace increase cubically with the addition of the third dimension, that's a lot of extra space really fast, so stop making gargantuan levels, guys).

Sonic Adventure for DC was excellent. That's how you do Sonic in 3D

Wow. ANOTHER 2-D Sonic game. After the LAST one was SO successful.

Geez. Won't they EVER give up? It's done. It's DEAD. Every. Single. Sonic. Game. Has. Sucked. At least since Sonic Adventure 1.

Just let it DIE. Who buys these? WHO?

The last 2D Sonic game on DS sold 3 million copies; that's fairly successful.

But as I said in another thread, Xbox is a bad place for a Sonic game, the fans there are largely PC gamers. I am not sure about the PS3 audience.

PS. My favourite games in the series are the first two on Genesis. I play each of them at least once a year and own them both now on three different systems. I found they remained easily the best platformers released in the gap between Super Mario Brothers 3 and Donkey Kong Country.

Sonic Unleashed sold a mill on the Wii, 410k on the PS3, 470k on the X-Box and 530k on the PS2, while Sales do not indicate quality, I'm sure Sega doesn't give a flying fuck about most reviewer's opinions on Sonic games.

And Rent what last 2D Sonic game were you talking about? Or did you in fact mean the DS ones(Which are actually pretty darn good).

Wasn't there that Sonic Rush one on the DS?
