Anyone else picking this up for the PS3?

I just pre-ordered prestige edition, I'll let you know how the goggles work.

nope. funny enough I don't actually have any intrest in really buying it with the other games coming out that I'm far more interested in playing. MW is way down on my list.

*sigh* Gonna be one of those months.

I got Uncharted 2, beat it, amazing game.

Picked up Dragon Age 2, another amazing game.

Modern Warfare 2 next week, though MP FPS ususally just ends with me getting shot in the face 10 times and throwing my controller or mouse across the room

And then Assassin's Creed 2 a week after that.

Not on my list either... maybe for Xmas. Too many games currently in progress

Gotta love the people who play Borderlands for exactly one week only to ditch it and play Dragon Age.

No point playing Borderlands without the other two guys that are with my multiplayer character.. Don't want to get overly ahead and then spend hours catching someone up.

Also, yeah, between Borderlands and Dragon Age I'm not going to be picking up MW2. CoD games have never really interested me. The only pure FPS I've played in a very long time in Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.

I'm gettin' the 360 version Day 1. Loved CoD2 and CoD4. No multi for me, I dislike run-and-gun FPS MP, but I'll certainly be up for Spec Ops mode, that looks great

I'm a weak consumer whore, I admit it. Definitely haven't given up on Borderlands though, but DA:O is great when no one's around.

Well, I'm trying to catch up anyway. I love single player, considering that I can go at my own pace. Somebody else at work commented on multiplayer which is exactly how I feel: "It's like everybody is trying to play it like Counterstrike and rush through as fast as possible." I get a lot of levels out of multiplayer, though.

I'm at the point where I have to free the Claptrap from Old Haven.

That's not even including Batman, Brutal Legend, and Halo 3 ODST in September, Demon's Souls the week before Uncharted 2 on the PS3, New Super Mario Bros Wii on the 15th, and Left 4 Dead 2 the same day as Assassin's Creed 2, 1 week after the release of CoD6. Then there's a few of the "lesser" games that came out too, like Boy and his Blob and Murumasa on the Wii, the Operation Flashpoint game that everyone seemed to enjoy, Borderlands, which may become a big sleeper hit, and the bunch of DS games from Sept to Dec as well (Mario & Luigi 3, Scribblenauts, Kingdom Hearts, Spirit Tracks, Professor Layton 2).

I thought it would be a slower Xmas but it's been kinda nuts

the single player tried way too hard to try to capture the moments from MW1. The death moments specifically. and it fails hard when it does so. It's so lacking in power and emotion that I just didn't care. The first one you run to your escape and then have a long dragging scene with you dying. this time around they are just these quick moments that really feel meaningless.

The death scene in MW1 was amazing.

I liked how the storyline has progressed so far. I wouldn't call it underwhelming, it just didn't have the power of the first ones'. But then again, you can't do it the same again and it was so memorable, you don't want to. I thought it was very well done and set up the story very well.

I'm not talking about the airport. I'm talking about the deathsplosion scripted stuff. honestly it's pretty underwhelming

I didn't think so. I thought they scripted it quite well. I'm enjoying the entire storyline quite a bit. Sure, it doesn't have the freshness or wow factor the original did but I actually think that this one is stronger than the first story-wise. Not only does it tie in quite well but it actually ends up being a pretty solid sequel story that makes the whole world they created that much better.

It also helps that Infinity Ward hardly made any gameplay changes at all since Call of Duty 2 (I haven't played 1 yet). The mechanics are exactly the same and the game basically feels like an expansion on 4 as opposed to an advancement. So all of their time (2 years) was spent on making multi changes, adding in Spec Ops, and refining and scripting the story. Considering these guys are right up there with Naughty Dog and almost Kojima in staging and scripting their story sequences, they take what should be a pretty average, run-of-the-mill FPS and make it a great experience.

Well, except for the unbelievable cheating and overall lazy difficulty design they made only moderately less unfair and punishing from 2 to 4 and is basically the same thing in 6. I like a challenge but it's just retarded on Veteren. And not hard in a good way.

I am just going to say that I've played the first five single-player missions and a gaggle of Spec-Ops matches with my buddy, and I have concluded that Modern Warfare 2 is SUPERKICKASSAWESOME and should be played on anyone who enjoys having fun.
