Emulator Woes

So, I'm trying to play Persona 2: Innocent Sin on my PSXeven emulator, and I've FINALLY managed to get the sound to stop skipping and the graphics to move at the normal pace...only now, for some strange reason, the button commands get stuck. I'll try to walk right and end up walking into a wall for three minutes before I get control back. It's making it unbearable to play the game. Can anyone who actually knows WTF to do with emulators give me a hand here?

Try to find a used PS1? Or maybe even a used PS2.

Can't play burned games on the PS2 or PS1 and I don't think Rent wants to go through the effort of finding a soft-mod solution. He's talking about the recent translation of the Japan-only "other" Persona 2 game that we never got.
Ummm, not sure, I've been out of the emulator scene for far too long. Google search? If not, check out Zophar.net on help with the emulators (not ROMs or ISOs, they don't do that). They should be able to help you get it to work.
