As I am not playing with you fools, I REFUSE to play with internet randoms and have been experiencing the campaign with bots (NOT RECOMMENDED).
Outside of that, this game is great. Melee weapons make my day in new and exciting ways. Holding down a doorway with a katana or chainsaw as the horde screams at you is very satisfying.
multiple iterations of each tier of weapons and the new special infected are a blast.
Buy this game and play it with me. It is delightful.
Also, I call Ellis. He is mine.

I will most likely pick it up sometime before Xmas, maybe once I finish Dragon Age? Maybe Steam will have it as part of their sale this week, then I'll definitely pick it up.

Yeah I'm waiting for Steam to inevitably put it on sale for at least $10 off. Last year it was around Christmas that they did this so maybe I'll just have to wait again.

I haven't seen you online. Just send me a message here or on Live and we'll set up a time. I beat all of the Spec Ops on Veteran so i can help you get through them all.

Yay?
ie. That's too much considering the retail value of the hard copy.
Even new it's $20 Cdn and for $3 more (don't forget the US conversion), it doesn't make sense to get the digital version. Beat it and sell it and you've paid less. I haven't checked but I'm sure the PC version is even cheaper

I get what you're saying, but I prefer Steam over hard copies. It's access to the game for as long as Steam/Valve stays in business which is certainly going to be longer (5+ years at least in the forseeable future) than I can keep track of a hard copy. That and I would far prefer a PC version of just about any game to a console version.
But back on the topic of the thread - Tess and I just finished our first round... we got to the last level of the campaign and got stuck because our teammate "Uberninja" kept trying to attack the tank with a katana. While if "uberninja" was an accurate name maybe this would have worked.. well you get the joke.
It took me a while to get my bearings straight and is it just me or is this sequel a lot harder than the original? Maybe the RPG elements of Borderlands and Fallout 3 have spoiled me in first person shooters since? Maybe Uberninja was just fucking things up to the point where it just seemed harder.

I did find myself at one point holding down Tab to find items
It was fun, and the end level was definitely an interesting change, but good god was that difficult.

One thing I do miss with hard copies is the ability to let friends borrow the game. For example, Becca/byrdiebyrd's getting a 360, but I can't let her borrow any games from my HD. It would be nice to be able to just give people one of the games by moving it (copying then delete). With license keys the way they are and the whole online thing, it's hard to try to pirate that.

That's one dirty little secret about the industry's anti-piracy stance; they don't want you to be able to give it to friends either. RIAA and MPAA already make that very clear that's what they want; no sharing amongst people, devices, etc. The gaming industry would love this as well if they could pull it off, and they slowly are.

Impulse has this neat thing where you can trade back games for a decent amount of Impulse credit but yeah. Never had any friends that were decent with returning games, though haha.

Yeah, and nobody is up in arms about it, nor is there any sort of profit model, so it will likely never happen until some benevolent company decides to make it standard. Steam, maybe, but they are tied to the contracts they sign, and aren't likely going to change the terms based on this little thing.

Bovine and I played Swamp Fever last night-- it was quite entertaining. We played on Easy just to learn the map and still ended up dying in the end the first time. Although to be fair, that was my fault... jumped off the 2nd floor balcony and crippled myself and then everyone else died protecting me lol.
Took about 50 minutes and this is one of the shorter ones.
Scavenge is also fun as a pickup game. It's a mix between Versus and the new Scavenge modes. Best of 3.

Let her borrow your HDD for a while. Games on there can be played by any profile on the system. All she has to do is recover her profile on your HDD and she can play away.
And thanks for giving me even more ammunition for my hard copy is better argument. I'd forgotten about that one

Have you guys tried saving Gnome Chompski from the Carnival? Holy CRAP did they increase the difficulty of the Dark Carnival level if you tried to carry that statue around. And you get him at the very beginning of section 2. We actually encountered an endless horde at the end of part 4 when you open the gates at the end to go towards the safehouse in the Stadium where the Midnight Cowboys concert is held. Took us forever to get to that safehouse.
Then while waiting for the chopper to show up, we encountered 3 Tanks and multiple Spitters (I despise that enemy; she's WAY too powerful and you have no idea she's coming), Chargers, Boomers, Hunters, etc. And on top of all that? The chopper actually takes longer to get to the pickup point, it circles around a bit more. We beat it on Normal the day before on my bud's system without too much hassle. But when we tried it here while carryin' the gnome, it was a huge ramp up in difficulty.
At least now I have a very effeminate Depeche Mode shirt for my avatar to wear.......
I still have to figure out how to do the Moustachio games. I found them but didn't figure out how the strongman one worked and was too busy carrying the statue around to play whack-a-mole.

Here's a hint: you're in a carnival, other than riding roller coasters, what else is there to do at a carnival?
EDIT: this clue will help you discover the secrets of the Moustachio as well

Yeah, a lot of people have taken notice of the insane success of Batman and the shockingly strong sales of Borderlands at reduced prices at launch and are starting to see that there is far more profit to be made adhering to the supply-demand than trying to control it.

Valve has been experimenting with pricing and sales for a while now. Steam has very often been the best place to buy PC games lately because it has been cheaper if you keep an eye on sales. They had Mirror's Edge for $5 on Sunday, for example.

I just spent forty-five minutes trying to find a game with people who weren't idiots. I would have settled for newbies that kept dying due to inexperience. Instead I got a gaming experience that makes me never want to play with the general public ever again.
