That's because you're a punk fan. I would prefer a band like Radiohead or Tool to get their own series, but that's never going to happen because they are as massively popular as the bands they will continue to hit.
But, that's really not the point. The point is that the old games had a variety of songs to choose from, so that you could invite a bunch of friends to play different songs. You didn't have to make sure that everybody was a Beatles fan, for example.

Don't bother. Punk has a more minimalist sound to it, so it's more about composition with the limited set of chords and notes. At least he isn't praising Offspring or something.
People like us like more complex music. But, then again, I'm talking to the AC/DC fan here...
