this seems dumb. it is backwards compatible with...the sega genesis, to a degree; cartridges only.

Does anyone else remember "Sega Channel?"

It'll make a great gift to those in our 25-30 generation bracket. Nothing more. I heard rumours last summer that Sega had something hardware related up their sleeves for 2010.

Boner. Just buy Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection and you've got almost every game on the system worth playing... which isn't saying much.

Yeah, that collection is pretty good and really cheap now, too.

I just checked my list of Genesis games after your comment. I have 63 total but if you're talking about "great" games, there really isn't much. Phantasy Star 2 and 4 were amazing, Shadowrun was excellent, Dynamite Headdy was quite good, and Vectorman was great for it's time....but that's about it. Lots of decent games or parts/offshoots of series' but not too many memorable ones at all.

I had Sega Channel!! It rocked and was way ahead of it's time... too bad it was too late and the console was already dying :(

My neighbor had it too. It did rock! You could download demo's of upcoming games. I wish you could do that now (hehe).
