DSi XL

OK so I got one, i figured sience my shoulder buttons were going out, but not out yet, I would take advantage of the trade in deal and get it. I'm actually happy with it, it still fits well in a back pocket, and the big screen makes stuff like the internet browser much more usable. I had no problems with the games I have played, the games still look just as sharp as ever.

On a side note, they just had a great DSi XL commercial. It was playing New Super Mario Bros, the mushroom came out of the screen, went into the top of the DSi and turned it into an XL. Thought it was a great commercial spot ^_^

Is it just me, or do the games actually look nicer on it? I have been considering getting one around the summer since my DSL has a broken hinge (superglued, but it still doesn't close as tightly) and Steph's has some strange screen issue where the top screen fades and turns white when it is fully opened. I have been thinking about getting one earlier for the new Warioware.

Pretty lame how any DSware games you purchase on DSi do not transfer to an XL. Not an issue for me anyway, since I just have a DSL. With the 3DS coming next year(?) and probably another version of it the year to follow, this one's a pass for me.

The reviews have been impressed with the screens, supposedly super sharp. I wonder how they get the games to look even better with a stretched out pixels?

Is there upconverting for games?

The screens are super sharp, but yeah I was disapointed that I couldn't copy my DSiware stuff at first. Then when I really thought about it, there were only 2 or 3 that I actually played after I finished em the first time, and they were all 500 or 200 point games, so I just went ahead and rebought em. Honestly they were good enough to me to warrent giving the developer a little extra money.

The only thing that bothers me with my DSi is that the face buttons are too close together. With extended play, my thumb gets cramped from having to make such small adjustments to go from button to button. From what I've read, the XL maintains the button size, so... I don't see the point. I like how the DSi is the size of a small paperback.

And, of course, with the 3D system coming out in the forseeable future, why bother?

I'm considering perhaps holding off for the 3DS, but it is probably not worth the 8 month wait considering I play a lot of DS and should get another. I can give the XL away as a Christmas gift later this year.

Well like I said, my shoulder buttons on my DSi were going bad anyway, so I took advantage of the trade in deal and got an XL. Had no real reason not to.
