I like the art direction for the most part in regards to the environments, but I don't like the character models and animations; particularly the faces - which REALLY bother me. They are too stiff, unexpressive, and plain looking. Xenosaga Episode 2 and 3 did better. In fact, Skies of Arcadia did it better with WAY fewer polygons and animations.

Yeah, I noticed the faces right away. Just not as good a direction as Xenosaga. I hope this isn't the final product.

Anyway, this tralier tells me nothing. Everything is in Japanese, and it's not really a trailer, just a preview of what is probably the beginning scene. I mean it's cool that they are continuing the series (I think), but it just doesn't tell me much right now.

That game looks absolutely terrible graphically.

Do Wii developers just not try?

It seems like only Nintendo and maybe Capcom try to not make the games look like ass.

They seem to just be using their PS2 engines and techniques without even realizing/caring they have a system about twice as powerful at their disposal. That's why so few third-party games look decent, they just don't care

Well, the environments are a large step up from Xenosaga, and they're far more open. The character models and facial animations and character model art style are what looks bad. I imagine the budget for Xenoblade is fairly large; but the models in FF Crystal Bearers are much better in comparison; even low budget titles on small labels like Rune Factory Frontier manage to have a better art style to their models. Monster Hunter Tri and Metroid Other M blow it away.
