I purchased this game with money. It is fun. If you have played any previous splinter cell game or any sneaky-aroundy type game and derived any enjoyment from playing them then you will be able to extract some pangs of glee from this game.
If you do buy it know this: there is a single player mode for playing this game alone, but then there are a couple of other modes for you to play with a single pal. If any of you buy this game, let me know. I can be a pal.

also, there is a dj shadow song in the game. It's no awesome chaos theory amon tobin soundtrack, but it is certainly a good start.

Good, glad I'm not the only one who thought that was an awesome soundtrack.

Got it today, pretty good so far. Makes me feel nostalgic for Batman AA... definitely more challenging.

Too bad it's made by Ubisoft.

I imagine you're referring to the PC DRM issues...

Yeah,
mission accomplished, fuckwads. Bioshock had the same problem, and I chose the 360 version, though it's a game that I really wanted to play. With this game, something that I'm on the fence with, I chose nothing. I can bend a bit and just not buy the game at all.
Meanwhile, I'll go buy some Johnny Cash.

You people are missing a fun game of sneaking and shooting. EA has adopted similar kinds of DRM (for C&C4), and I'm sure we're going to see it elsewhere. PC gaming has been long been becoming an awful place to play. This topic, however, is for a different thread. Talk DRM and crap ubisoft behaviour elsewhere. Talk about fun game here.
I have been having a blast playing through the coop campaign with Tessian. He gets me out of trouble when I am being an idiot.

You get ME out of trouble more often. It is fun and challenging. I like some of the style choices like having your objectives written on walls and stuff as if someone put a spotlight on them. The whole "turn to grayscale" when you're in the shadows is interesting too... it's a great easy way to let me know I'm hidden in the shadows, but then sometimes I feel like I'm playing half the game in black and white.

Well, I grabbed this game, and so far I really like it.
I've played two other Splinter Cell games, and while I liked the idea, I got bored with the execution. I think my biggest complaint with those is that you're just sneaking around doing stuff and the goal is to avoid enemies. I don't get the option to remove all threats in sight because you simply can't do that in certain situations. Also, it was complicated to figure out if you were detectable or not.
Conviction doesn't have these problems. The goal from the very beginning is vengeance. You're there to kill people, and to eliminate every threat. In some cases, you don't have to, but it's very satisfying when you keep headshotting these guys with a silencer, and everybody thinks you're a fucking ghost, ninja, or Batman. In fact, it reminds me a lot like the last Batman game, except with guns and Sam Fisher isn't tying these guys up.
The greyscale detection system is great, even if you're playing a good portion of the game in black and white. The wall-based direction is also great and original, adding a bit of art to the storyline. I love that you hit the Back button and it displays your objective as a light object on the nearest wall or floor you're pointing at. They've made an effort to strip down the interface to make it less complicated and it works well.
I'll will probably complete this game, unlike the last two SC games I've played.
