I didn't find a significant difficulty increase from Gears 1 to Gears 2 but according to this article about Gears 3, it appears that the last game in the trilogy is going to be easier because the majority (60%) of people didn't finish #2

Yeah, it could simply be that a good chunk of people just didn't care for it or played it only for multi, but it appears that Epic thinks there's more to it than that and is making the last game easier. Did you guys find Gears 2 to be very hard, hard enough that you either didn't finish it or had a helluva time finishing it?

I never finished it, but it had nothing to do with the difficulty. Just got to the last chapter and forgot about it.

That game just got up and boring real fast. How many times do you want me to duck behind this wall, and then pop out and shoot guys?

The same number of times they want you to shoot Russians or aliens. It's no more repetitive than any other FPS or action game ever made

Looks like Casual will likely be the one getting easier with Hardcore and Insane staying around the same
