Ideas for posse names

You dawg, I grabbed RDR and it is pretty fun. I'm trying to burn through Alan Wake so I can focus on RDR specifically.

So there are posses you can form and I have been thinking up posse names (inspired by BF:BC2's gold squad medal for being the best squad) and the two I have come up with are:

Golden Boys (inspired by golden girls)
and
The Golden Gang

any suggestions for good posse names?

Did you pick it up for PS3 or 360? I'm assuming 360 if you are playing Alan Wake.

I'm not sure which team was in charge of what, but this game feels a bit like Bully to me. Instead of the main story garnering all the attention and the side stuff being mostly frivolous, RDR has a lot of side stuff that is cool and interesting.

Checking this game out is a good idea.

As extra incentive, you would be able to join my soon-to-be-awesomely named posse.

This game is relevant to my interests... I may pick it up next week as I need to get a wireless adapter for my Xbox now anyway.

I might end up with this game but with Prince of Persia: TFS last week and Alpha Protocol coming next week it probably won't be happening until the price gets hiked down.

Since no one is actually giving their impressions of the game, let me be the first.

As far as I'm concerned, there's really only one way to describe this game: GTA in the Wild West. Everything from the maps, the movement of the character models, the mission setup, everything screams GTA. Hell, the horseshoe game even feels a bit like the bowling game. And that's a very good thing IMO. I very much enjoyed GTA4 and I think it translates wonderfully to the time period. The storyline scenarios are very similar to GTA as well and are quite well done. And they have the same quality of voice acting as well, which is another way of saying they're quite good. The world is quite robust and you are always running into quickie little "help" missions or ambushes and they even have the nice little touch of people around a campfire at night in the middle of the plains who invite you to sit and chat. A very robust and very fun world to be running around in.

I ended up putting about 8 1/2 hours into the game. Was at just under 30% overall completion and was just about to get to the point you'd expect to after playing the opening (as spoiler-free as I can make it). I did end up doing quite a number of side missions (hence my relatively high completion percentage while never leaving New Austin) and even some of the challenges (was on my 3rd level of Survivalist) along the way. I'd say a 30 or so hour game would get you the vast majority of the way and that's a pretty solid length for a game like this IMO. I mean, you COULD go 60+ hours but that's doing very tiny little thing the game has to offer which to me would be a little much. And that's not including the multiplayer which I just never had a chance to get into.

Overall, I'd very much recommend the title. Is it a 95%+? Well, not really, but it sure is a solid 90% and one of the best sandbox games I've played, right up there with GTA4. Just too bad it came out when it did, with Alan Wake and Mario Galaxy 2 the same week. Maybe in the lull in the summertime I'll pick it back up (I bought it and traded it in under the EB Gameplay Guarantee, like FF13, so I only had it for a week). But if you're on the fence on this one, rest assured, it's a very well done, extremely polished titles. Still has the weaknesses of GTA (the "driving" feels a little stiff, character models could be a bit more detailed, sometimes it's easy to screw up without knowing it, the combat still feels like it could be better) but those are relatively minor complaints in a relatively excellent package.

For the record, i hate the term sandbox style game. Is that what open non-linear games are called nowadays? Every coworker i talk to who has read one review is always like, 'its the best sandbox game ive played.' and i want to punch them in the gullet.

Yes. I don't know who first coined the term, but it's been around for a while. I use the term because I don't want to constantly call it an "open world non-linear game". It's simpler. :)

Simply put, will I enjoy this game more then GTA4? I had fun with GTA4, but found myself bored because it had played the hell out of the others, and didn't get that far into the game in the end.

Do you want to play in the Wild West more than in modern day New York? Your answer to that will be directly correlated to the answer for your question

I just beat it today and am looking forward to jumping back in to finish up the challenges. I enjoyed this game's main story experience much more than I did with any GTA game.

yeah, it actually had me hooked more than the GTA games did for the time I played it. I always really enjoyed the GTA games but they never quite grabbed me like this one.

How long did it take you? What % did you get?

yeah, that sounds about right, I was at about that same pace. I ended up with 29.5% or so in 8 1/2 hours. I like the fact it's not an insanely long game, 30 hours and doing almost everything is a good length. And even though it's a sandbox game, it never feels like it's too wide-open where you have these huge stretches between anything meaningful to do. It's almost like a streamlined GTA as well.

I just love the fact that traveling anywhere is easier... not only thanks to campsites but because riding around in the wild west isn't like the fucking gridlock of driving around a metropolis. No street lights to hit, no magically invulnerable trees, just cacti, rocks, and some people.

Yeah, that is a huge difference. And finding the wild flowers or killing animals along the way to complete some challenges or the strangers inviting you to sit at the campfire at night with them is a wonderful addition.

I agree that travelling in the game is much more pleasant. Whether it be because of the ambient challenges or people asking for help, trying to ambush you, etc. It made the whole thing a lot more interesting.
