It was called Namco × Capcom for the PS2. Can read more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_%C3%97_Capcom. I was actually sort of looking forward to it but I heard it flopped in Japan so badly they didn't bother porting it here. It seems to be some kind of SRPG type of game but you can just get infinite combos and stuff. Probably wasn't a good idea for the hero to be a completely new nobody character.

Seems unlikely anyone would pick it up. I heard the game just wasn't all that great, and I'm sure failing to use anyone recognizable as your main character has something to do with it. I recall hearing the game balance is really messed up so you can't possibly use whoever you like unless they're one of the powerhouse characters because you'd have no chance of winning, which is clearly very bad for a game designed like this.

To be honest feels like they're justing going to milk the SSF4 game with another expansion of characters. This might as well be SSF4: 3rd Strike.

I'd rather have seen a new darkstalkers game.

It's not coming out for 2 years, it was an extremely early build that they showed, and it also obvious from the video that the mechanics are the same as Street Fighter IV's.
