Comes out Tuesday, anyone else pre-order it?

To be honest I haven't read much up on it yet, but I always enjoyed Halo games (especially with friends) and Amazon's offering $20 credit right now for it.

Got my Legendary Edition waiting at my bud's EB for me. Unfortunately, he can't give it to me 'til Tuesday.....

Of course, even if I did get it early, I couldn't play it or I'd be banned. But I should be there on Tuesday night playin'....but not online. I really would love to do a 4-player Legendary so if we get a free Live weekend soon, I'd certainly be in for a weekend Legendary romp

IGN gave it a 9.5 and 1up an A+ as well. Pretty solid reviews overall

Even for those of us who don't play the multi (but I would like to a Firefight night sometime), it appears that the campaign mode is supposed to be pretty good too. Thankfully they've finally updated the engine, ODST looked pretty weak when compared to pretty much any other shooter.

Very sweet, NOW I'm pumped for Reach. One more day...

Btw-- what evil asshole decided video games come out on Tuesdays?? Did movies call dibs on Fridays and no one else can or something?

Tuesday is traditionally the slowest of all retail shopping days. Anything they can do to boost the sales on that day are done.

And if you think about it - the game would come out three days later and not the four days earlier you're hoping for :P

I could live with that. It's the fact that it interrupts my work week and distracts me during the day that bothers me. If I received it on Friday after work I'd have the whole weekend to get over the initial infatuation.

Finally got to play some Reach last night and so far I'm pleased. It's been a long time since I've played Halo so I'm getting re-used to the controls but otherwise nice. There's a hundred ways to customize your armor (all that cost points you get in MP) but you do get a nice initial bucket of points for having played previous games. Played through 2 SP missions and 1 game of Invasion, both quite fun.

Invasion's pretty fun, but it would be a blast with a team of friends. Team A has to take out a series of objectives that Team B defends, eventually trying to capture a flag. Once time ends the teams swap.

Oh and the whole friends list built into the main menu is very nice too, only showing you friends online that are currently playing Halo.

I had absolutely 0 interest in puchasing this game, and then I won it on a radio contest :p (just had to be the 7th or 9th caller).

I'm picking it up tonight.

I've proud to say that I've never played a Halo game. That's not to say that I hate the series, but it just looks like a standard FPS to me. I've rather have Valve fucking hurry up and release more episodes of Half-Life.

Yeah because developers clamming up and not releasing jack shit in terms of information for lengthy periods of times has always inspired confidence in me.

Well it does do generic shooter VERY well. Bungie doesn't try to do new things like Valve does any more. Which is sad because Oni was actually pretty awesome. You probably missed out on playing the original when it first came out, though.

This weekend is free Live weekend (at least up here in Canada). So I'm up for online Legendary and Firefight on Sunday (gone camping 'til then). Anyone wanna get together on Sunday? I can be on from about 3pm onwards. Just reply here and we'll set up a time for us to get together. I would prefer to do Firefight if possible, but I'm more than up for a Legendary run-through if that's the consensus.

Also, at least for Canadians, 12-month Live is $36 right now if you're a Silver member. Still waaaay too much but it's a far better deal than you'll get anywhere else.

Sorry, Bovine, was in the middle of Legendary campaign. Hopefully we'll have another free online weekend soon

I have to say, after completing the first 6 missions, this is definitely the best Halo game to date (I ignore the run-and-gun online). By far the best graphically, the storyline is much better than in the past, the dramatic parts are much better, the sequencing and pacing of the events is excellent....it's like Bungie really learned from not only the past games but the other stuff that's come out since and really stepped up their game. Where ODST really, really felt like an expansion, this feels like an evolution. It's a great last game in the series for them and leaves a lot for the subsequent teams to live up to.

And the Firefight mode is tons of fun, too. I could play the crap out of that, if I were able to......

Bovine and I kept waiting for your sorry self to play some multiplayer but you just kept playing campaign...

Why don't you break down and pay the $4 for a month of Live so you can properly enjoy the game? You can still take the moral high ground and claim a friend gave you one of those free month cards or something.

Two of us were doing Legendary campaign and my bud doesn't play Halo on anything but Normal. It was a bit of a struggle, especially with those super Elites with the stupid alien grenade launchers in close quarters. That part took forever.

I could have had it for $36 for the year. That promotion just ended last week. Still too expensive for something I should be getting for free. I do "properly" enjoy the game. I play all of the modes I want to play with other people, they just happen to be in the room with me at the time. And if I ever want to play online, I still have three 1-month cards and a 48-hour card hanging around if I really need them. I just never really have a reason to use them. Hell, yesterday only you two showed up and it was pretty late. Most of the time no one is playing anything I want to play. You know how many times I've tried to get people together to play a variety of games? If you don't play the game in the first week or two people move on. I generally play games later on, I often can't/don't get to them in the first week. I had Live for about 14 straight months and only played online maybe 3 times in the last 6 months. So paying for Live when I only use it a few times a year is a waste, really.

BTW, Tess, I didn't see you online yesterday. Did you see me?

That's impressive. When they're ALL focused on you, it's freakin' irritating. The weapons aren't as good as the CoD weapons
