FF14 has 2 free month extensions

I realize the overhead for MMORPGs must not be very much (it costs like $50 million an year to run WoW compared to the billions it pulls in) but it's also not a trivial number. If my math works out right that's 3 months since launch with no monthly revenue for FF14, and generally MMORPGs won't make enough money to break even just on the box sale since they're generally the most expensive titles in gaming history.
On one hand you can say maybe Sqix is listening, but I don't see the problems with FF14 being fundamentally salvageable, so it almost seems like it'd be wiser to see get whatever money people would've paid for the next 2 months instead of extending 2 free months of gameplay only to end up with nothing. Or maybe they're banking on the PS3 to turn it around, but while console tend to be behind in the MMORPG department, it's not like people who play console games have never heard of WoW or any other MMORPG so that they'd be impressed by what is definitely a very bad MMORPG.
