what happens to the Megaman series?

I saw announcement saying Rockman Dash 3 (Megaman Legends 3) will be for the 3DS. While it's hard to imagine making a Megaman game requires supreme talent, it's kind of worrisome that the guy who created Megaman left Capcom. Legends series is also in a bad spot since either you've to completely throw out what has happened before (then they should call it something new) or half of the game is going to be about Roll and Tron in a catfight and I don't think anyone is interested in that, not even Megaman fans.
ZX series is presumably discontinued so we'll never get the third game that might actually explain what the heck happened to Ciel and Zero after the Ragnarok incident. For that matter we never got a Zero game that explains what happened to the Ragnarok incident too. Yeah I know Zero presumably died but this is the guy who would just hide himself in a cave to repair himself even if the world is destroyed. And of course X series has more question marks than answers in its heavily retconned storyline. I used to think the Megaman series left a lot of stuff unanswered because they're trying to sell sequels, but it's pretty clear they don't even get around making these sequels so the whole premise just becomes stupid because you can't even pay more money to find out what's going to happen!
I think at this point it'd be a good idea if Capcom just renounce the right to Megaman and let the fans take care of it. It's not like Megaman games are complicated to write and it doesn't look like Capcom will make more money out of this anyway. Someone somewhere is going to be able to figure out a better way to explain everything than Capcom ever did, and even if you don't like it you can go to someone else's explanation. Of course this is extremely unlikely since Capcom apparently values the Megaman IP more than say, Street Fighter. There are no Megaman manga in Hong Kong and Marvel vs SNK actually got a cease & desist when they wanted to add Zero, but there's no problem if Chun Li turned out to be a man or Ken killed Ryu every other major story.
