Sounds like fun. As for the number of questions, since it's online, I would assume it gets regular updates with new content... hopefully.

There are 780 questions built in, and then they are adding 100 questions at a time for 5 bucks a pack

If you like that one, you should also check out the Wiiware "TV Show King 2" by Gameloft. It features 8000 questions (plus additional free downloadable questions) across 12 different types of rounds (you can customize the game to play 3, 6, or 9 different rounds in the main gameplay mode). Round types are picked randomly. Each round is loosely based on an existing gameshow including Wheel of Fortune, Carmen Sandiego, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and others. Up to four players in the main game mode.

I forget the price, but I believe it is 8 bucks.

Well keep in mind how much voice work is in this game, it's really an insane amount.

But I am willing to be the vast majority of those are re-treads from previous versions. Again, a decent price and I may get it on an impulse

Re-treads aren't what the series is about. The questions would mostly become dated, as a lot of them tie into current popular culture. Here is a good video of what it's like.
