If the release schedule is similar to FF4, it should be here in 6 months. Although I hope it is much more soon =)
It has been announced that Final Fantasy VI, regarded by many as one of the finest additions to Square Enix’s most successful franchise, is due to release on Virtual Console in Japan next month.
The title, which is the last Final Fantasy game from the classic era of Nintendo platforms to make its way onto the service, is due to be available for 900 Wii Points, and has been earmarked by Nintendo as being a premium title.
If I didn't have it on GBA already, I'd definitely grab this. I wish they'd remake it in 3D for the DS or 3DS.

Yeah, I wonder why we only got #4 and we've heard nary a peep about 5 and 6. And now we're getting a second re-release of 4 for the PSP as well

I would REALLY love to see a 3DS version come about as well. Square already confirmed a while ago that it won't be out on DS due to hardware limitations.
There is already an unspecified Final Fantasy title coming to 3DS, I am fairly sure that is the remake. I also want to see Chrono Trigger as well with the same art style, 2D graphics, and added depth elements; can you imagine Dark Matter and Luminaire in 3D? =P
Final Fantasy 6 is still, in my opinion, the most solid experience Square has had to date (although Chrono Trigger can be argued to this position as well). As I have said before, it isn't really as brave as FF7 or FF8, and lacks the high points and depth of those two later games; on the other hand it also doesn't have any of the low points of those two games. FF7 has a lot of slow points, and FF8 is probably the least accessible FF title to non-experienced players since the NES games.

It's still my favourite game of all time, and probably the best old school RPG (not just FF game) overall.

I completely agree. I can't really describe how much I love the game, or even begin to guess at how many hours I've spent on it.

Im in that boat with you guys. FF6came out right in my wheelhouse combination of age, gaming experience, and fantasy nerd'ness. I played the living hell out of it and enjoyed it more than any other game.
I still remember staying up real late one night just to sleep at the inn a ton of times to see the Shadow dreams, really creepy stuff and completely awesome.

Chrono Trigger is damned close, but I do agree. They're both a notch above FFIV, Phantasy Star II, and Lunar 2

You guys are all speaking my language. Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger are my favorite RPGs to date. I have both sitting in my DS at the moment.

Yup...both of those are just stellar, stellar games. I could replay them over and over.
I finally convinced a friend of mine to play through FF6. He had only played 7-13. 7 was his favorite. Now, 6 is his favorite.

Six rules. I may have turned into a nostalgic old coot, 'cause in my mind nothing will ever be enjoyable as those SNES Square RPGs (4, 6, CT).
EVERYONE AGREES! It's a miracle!

Looks like it is coming much sooner than expected. Europe got it yesterday, and they didn't get the original SNES release.
Virtual Console – FINAL FANTASY III (SQUARE ENIX, Super Nintendo, 900 Wii Points)
Originally released as FINAL FANTASY III on SNES in North America, this game is in fact FINAL FANTASY VI from the main series chronology. Continuing the long history of FINAL FANTASY games, FINAL FANTASY III allows you to enter the world of the Espers. Mythical magic beings, thought long extinct until the discovery of one buried deep in the ice sparks a series of magic attacks amongst citizens using MagiTek weapons. Who or what is behind the rediscovery and redeployment of this legendary power? What chaotic plans exist that will wreck havoc on this orderly world?
