Personally, I think the price is reasonable, but I don't think I'd like to play a game for a long period of time on my phone. Despite having my iPhone for four months now, I've played exactly one demo for ten minutes, and I don't feel the urge to play more. I think the iPhone is great, but I use it to communicate with people, browse the internet and if stuck on a train, read academic papers.

I'll probably get FFT for the PSP eventually, but I do think Tactics on the iPad would be ideal. I think the iPhone is too small, but the iPad is a good size, and actually easier to hold for extended periods. According to the article, it's coming to iPad in the Fall.

I downloaded the PSP version since it's now on the PS Store for $10. I would never attempt to play it on my iPhone, and don't own an iPad.

Poor emulation?

I don't own an iPad, but I figure I'll eventually get one. My prediction for the next iteration is that it will get a screen with the same resolution as the iPhone 4 - that's enough to make me pull the trigger.

Me too.....as long as it comes in at under $200 and is as easy to jailbreak as the first two iterations

The iPad will not be under $200 for a long time. Particularly what I'm predicting - I figure what's stopping them from having the same kind of screen on the iPad as on the iPhone is cost and heat dissipation (for the extra processing power required to move that many more pixels).

The freakin' PSP version! Heartbreaking. Such a great re-translation, ruined by appalling slowdown and tinny music. I am praying that they get the iOS version right.

Appalling!

I didn't find the slowdown to affect the game too much, maybe since I haven't played the original in many years. The coherent translation and addition of the Dark Knight class is enough for me to favour the PSP version. Having said that, I don't even know how much time I'll devote to it since downloading it. I still have the UMD version and my saves from that I transferred to my PSPGO, so upon booting up a save from about two years ago I see I left off just after getting Cid and my main squad is sitting ~lvl.85 at 50ish hours. I'd forgotten what a time investment this game could be, and hopping back in is ah... intimidating.
