A bone to pick with WB / Rocksteady

Those fuckers made the Catwoman interwoven secondary storyline in Arkham City a DLC that you get free with new copies. So, like Ubisoft before them, they take a portion of the actual game out and make it DLC (although you do get it free if you buy new). This is a horrible, horrible trend. I can't even let my buddy borrow my game anymore without him missing out on part of the real game (not some side mission: the story is interwoven with the Batman story)? Bullshit I say

Good thing I never let people borrow my games and always buy new. :p

EB cut a deal with them so they have codes to pack in with used games. So in this case, I agree that the only person really getting fucked is the consumer who must now jump through hoops/get a gimped copy of the game for pretty much no reason now.
I do not sell games or buy them used, so all of this online pass and locked content business is punishing me to jump through extra hoops.

Wow, to make things even worse, the Catwoman code is only if you buy it at EB/Gamestop......even if you get a used copy from them.

So, they're even forcing you to go to a specific retailer to play a portion of the game. Fuck you, Rocksteady

Mod your Xbox, burn the game, then pay for the DLC.
Or grab a JTAG and get both the DLC and game for free.

Nope. I bought from Best Buy and I have one. That article is referring to buying used copies only.

I do actually like the publishers to get my money....a certain amount of it, at least.
And as a collector, I don't burn games, I want to own them.

Even if it's just used games, still bad. Still promoting one retailer over another, still bad....just not as bad

GameStop struck a deal to have additional codes to give away with their used copies...I'm sure other retailers could have struck a similar deal if they wanted to. I'm not really seeing favoritism.
I am also a collector...but my collection is more of the "Steam list" persuasion. I absolutely would have paid for Arkham City through Steam had it launched alongside the console versions.
