It's fun to play, but the difficulty can really get on your nerves. Along with your typical lock-on laser, you also have a purple quick-fire shooter, which is your only way of destroying missiles now. It's also used for enemies that are also purple, for destroying armor and the like. (Though the difficulty is hard, I did find that I was starting to get better at shooting missiles after dying to them a lot.) It's a rather pretty game, with a lot better graphics than Rez (of course).

The music, for the most part, sucks. It ranges from decent to subpar to get-rid-of-this-fucking-JPOP-trance-bullshit. In most games, it's not as big a deal. A lot of games have average or subpar music. But, this is a critical part of the game. The "story" seemed like it could have been something, but what a letdown. Spoiler: Lumi is the singer. It's like this whole thing is an advertisement for this fictional Genki Rockets band.

The levels and enemies, while cool, seem like they borrow too much from Rez. The Passion level was pretty cool, but running man boss has already been done before...

Sigh... I don't hate this game, but compared to Rez, I'm fairly disappointed. It's not as good as Rez. Rez had an awesome soundtrack, from Japanese to American artists. It had frelling Adam Freeman doing the final track and it was a really good song. Now, it seems like the director's taste in music has changed since then, as both this game and Lumines both seem to have this Pop Trance thread.
