1up: XBL subscription fee "outdated" and "ridiculous"

Mass Effect 3 demo unlocks Gold for a limited time for Silver members just so you can enjoy the demo properly

It also means you can play whatever you want with the Gold unlock, not just Mass Effect 3. I'm assuming it's basically a free 48-hour card for anyone who downloads the demo. Microshaft is reluctantly swallowing this one in hopes that some will just switch over to a Gold subscription afterwards.

1up tears into Microshaft on this one saying online is free every other system around, be it Wii, PS3, DS, PSP, Steam....whatever. The system is so antiquated that they have to do this just to allow the demo to work properly. But he does concede that because so many sheep out there keep payin for it, ain't no reason to stop charging. I couldn't agree more

Between RROD's that people lazily didnt send back to MS (i.e. just trashed and bought a new one) and online fees, i wonder how many times people have doubled, tripled, or quadrupled the price of their Xbox? Probably enough to buy a pretty badass PC.

Speaking of badass PCs, just upgraded to an i5 2500k, and a new motherboard, now I just need to find a good deal on a GeForce 580 TI for cheap.

Let me know if you do. My comp runs most everything at this point, but i know my vid card is certainly the bottleneck to amazingly awesomeness.
