I went a little overboard when i decided to replace my Baseball Stars game recently. It wasnt working, and as i was browsing Amazon i noticed a bunch of good NES games that i didnt own, but still had the fond memories of playing them at friends, or just randomly. My NES games are a little out of control (not to the extent Zeus has, though, I'm sure) but i've also decided that nowadays its considered nerd cool to have a working NES, a working top loading NES, laser gun, plenty of controllers, and a shit ton of games. All while not owning an XBox or PS3, i'm officially old school and I recognize it now. In an attempt to bulk up my favorite system's library I purchased the following:

- Baseball Stars
- Double Dragon II (i have DD I and III)
- Battletoads & Double Dragon (I have Battletoads)
- Kirby's Adventure
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade
- Crystalis (this game is really underrated, i love it)
- RC Pro-Am II (i have RC Pro-AM)
- Mike Tysons Punch Out (cant believe i didnt own this, i still remember everything!)

What are some other good classics to add?! I'm addicted now.

Super Dodge Ball.

That's pretty awesome. Lots of late NES era games (the NES had a strong finish compared to most other consoles), RC Pro-am 2 was awesome; and now I want to play it =)

Strangely, I have NO Castlevania NES games, i guess I didnt get into the series until SotN... I bolded and underlined the ones on your list i do have, Super Dodgeball might need to find its way onto my shelf along with Duck Tales, fond memories of both of those.

Those are the ones I consider highlights. I didn't bother putting in the Mario games as I figured you already had them (even though I reminded you about Zelda and Metroid). There are others once you get through this list. Just ask and I'll suggest some more. And if you ever decide to move on to SNES and Genesis, lots more :-)

I do have a working SNES and I hook it up at times, but most of my games for it are RPG's. When most of us were in that amazing phase.

However the NES is always hooked up and ends up being a topic of conversation when people come over, see my DVR, DVD player... and a NES as the only things under the TV. We usually end up playing something after that! (note: Duck Hunt does not work with an LCD TV)

I can't play the old version of River City Ransom since it came out for the GBA. So much fun (and so so very broken if you max out your character heh)

If you want some SNES suggestions, let me know. There's a lot more games for that system that are non-RPGs which are pretty good.....plus a lot of RPGs you may not have remembered/played.

Pfft! Without Castlevania, Bionic Commando, and Blaster Master anywhere to be seen? *Australian accent* That's not a list!

I think a lot of games on that list were fun at the time, but not so fun to play today compared to many of the later NES titles. The NES probably saw more of a quality improvement from the beginning of the generation to the end than any other console.

Dragon Warrior 1, Zelda 1, and Mario 1 - all very groundbreaking and genre defining titles, but I feel like their sequels are not only more interesting, but also far more rewarding to play through. There is a MASSIVE jump in design quality between Mario 1 and 3, and Dragon Warrior 1 and 4. People may disagree with me on Zelda, but I feel the same about Zelda 1 and 2 as well. Zelda 2, in my opinion just feels so much more varied and vast of an adventure; and while challenging, it's not "NES hard" like Zelda 1 is =P

With the two controller ports up front, if it has an RCA and/or composite out, it would rule.

I'd like to say "oh, all tablets can just emulate" but really, it blows playing NES and SNES games on a touchscreen. I've tried...

Touch screen is fine for RPGs

yeah, that's it. You can't play action games which is 85% of the good stuff on old-school systems
