Anyone play Dwarf Fortress?

I am just wondering if there are others who play this, I am just getting into it myself after being recommended it by some of the people at work.

I've tried to play it a couple of times, but get annoyed after awhile. I should try to pick it up again.

You running any mods on top of it?

Just a texture pack. I am just starting to get into the game and following tutorials. It seems like the sort of game I'd be interested in.
