Quietly comes out today! Maybe it wasnt so quiet, but i havent been paying attention. Thats pretty exciting, i'll def be getting it later this week for the PC.

The PS3 owners have to wait another month, which is just plain mean.

I'll eat my hat if it comes out for the PC within a month. (no I will not do this and I do not own any hats)

Microsoft has some deal with Bethesda where any game they release has at least a one month "exclusive" DLC since Fallout 3. Luckily this only applies to the first DLC release.

They just announced that there is no ETA on the PC version. Jerks.

Why go through the motions of specifically not announcing a release date when the release date came this soon afterwards? Okay, well, time to give it a go I suppose.

The PC delay has made me realize i probably wont even play this DLC. I'm hearing its really short or $20, also, and picking up Skyrim again seems daunting.

To be honest, I didn't like Skyrim all that much to begin with (either I am crazy/old or the game was really....bland) but dawnguard just wasn't very much fun. Technically, it's two sides (vampire or dawnguard) but it's basically the same missions & ending. It's over relatively quick to boot, I tore through it in a few hours tops. $20 seems more like an experiement in screwing over fans than a legit DLC cost.

Oh, and as much as I don't really like Skyrim, the mods I've download sure helped. Not as much as they helped FO3/FONV but they made the game tolerable at least. (still waiting for a RTS-type mod for Skyrim...is there one?)

My Skyrim character is pretty beastly tweaked out at the moment, too, so i suspect Dawnguard will not be very hard. That plays into the decision.

It was pretty easy for me, but I was either playing on normal or adept. Could not deal with playing as a mage on harder difficulties. Having to cast shit like stone flesh and using wards was tedious - I just liked double-fireballing and summoning demora lords (TWO OF THEM!).

Playing as a vampire wasn't fun. I guess it could be if you were really low-level, but where I was with this mage (~30 maybe), it was a waste of time. Took way too long to kill the simplest things. Only useful application I found for vamp form was for quick traversal of terrain (flying over water especially).

Can't imagine anybody doing a pure mage playthrough on the hardest difficulty. I tried, and early on when you've only got magicka enough for a couple of spells and everything kills you in one hit? Naaaaah.

Anyway, if you haven't played Dawnguard yet and $20 is a lot of money to you, just wait.
