Boring year for gaming

WTF is worth playing? I mean, I've played XCOM, and way too much of Binding of Isaac. Already finished ME3. "Dust: An Elysian Tail" is good at first, but has no depth afterwards. Same with Outlands.

This year was bound to be a disappointment after the insanity of the last Xmas rush. It's been a little slow even for a normal Xmas. But I've had my fun with Borderlands, RE6, and just started Assassin's Creed 3. I get Halo 4 on Tuesday and haven't had a chance to play Layton yet. And I ain't gettin' the Wii U but that's gonna be a big deal for some games

But yeah, its' been slower. Let's hope there's some good deals on PSN and XBLA for some of the digital titles soon

I was thinking about posting a games of the year thread, but I guess this is a good a place as any.

I think due to time and money constraints, I will have to miss all of the big games this year and pick them up in 2013, but I had some really good experiences this year (although some of the games are from 2011 and previous). Here's what I really enjoyed so far this year:

DARK SOULS (Upon jumping back in to play the DLC, I saw that I had sunk over 100 hours into my main)
Gears of War 3 (was surprised at how much I enjoyed the campaign)
Super Mario 3d Land
Dragon's Dogma (there is some pretty tedious backtracking, but the combat in this game is very satisfying and challenging until you become an overpowered god)
Rayman Origins (a fun game made even more fun with coop)
Dirt 3
Guild Wars 2 (seems fun, but I am having a real hard time sinking my teeth into it properly)
Shadows of the Damned (picked this up on a whim, but and REALLY enjoying this. The game is pure style and minimal substance. If you dig the style you will like it, and you will hate it if you do not)
Walking Dead Episodes (I think that playing all the episodes in one go is a terrible mistake. Picking it up piecemeal makes for a very satisfying and engrossing experience)

I really am hoping to find the time and cash to pick up the big headliners (Halo 4, Assassin's Creed 3, Borderlands 2, XCOM, and the like). At least this is really giving me time to hit my pretty hefty backlog.

Seriously, though - Dark Souls.

Between ME3, XCOM, Journey and Dishonored, I cannot agree.
And I haven't even played Borderlands 2 or Halo 4 or any of the Walking Deads.

Sine, what downloadable games have you played? There's been lots of good ones there but I can't recommend anything unless I know what you've played. And you have both the Xbox and PS3, yes?

No, just the XBox. I think I've mentioned the Arcade games I've played: Bastion, Fez, Outlands, Dust:ET. I think that's all of them that I've played this year. Like I said, pretty boring for an entire year. (Haven't played The Walking Dead episodes yet, but I'm not in the mood for an interactive story right now...)

Off the top of my head, you're still missing Deadlight and Mark of the Ninja. I figure you're not into trials 2 or the Alan Wake sidestory.
