I'm about 1/3rd of the way through Black Ops 2

First off, Veteran ain't what it used to be. The only time I ever got caught for more than a couple of minutes on a section so far (I just finished the horse riding section) is when I didn't realize that I had to go do something when I wasn't prompted in any way (no signal, no one yelling, nothing). I used to play all of the CoD games on Veteran because I like a challenge and they were so damned easy on every other level of difficulty I'd tear through them too fast. The last couple of games (MW3 and BO2) aren't even a challenge on Veteran. I guess the CoD kids who prestige 35 times in the first week after release but couldn't beat the game on Easy complained too much.

What I'm impressed with are the graphics....to a degree. Some parts look spectacular (futuristic rock climing) while others look like a well-updated version of the BO1 engine. Other than the cutscenes in Medal of Honor: Warfighter, it's the best-lookin' modern warfare shooter for sure, a definite upgrade over MW3 and BO1.

I also really like how they've done the storyline. For those of you who don't know (or only buy it to play multi), you're in the near future but are being told a story by an old man (the guy in the chair from BO1) and you do flashback missions which are basically a direct storyline continuation of BO1. Of course, you're doin' the flashbacks because it ties directly with the near-future storyline. It's actually done quite well and the story's been pretty solid so far.

All-in-all, it's a lot of fun and may be the best of the CoDs yet. Gotta wait to see how it ends before I can give final judgement
