I just got finished playing FFIV on an emulator with a great translation anyway... might rent Chronicles to see what it's like.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "Arial bold"; text-align: left; '>$40 for two of the best RPGs ever. Not a bad deal, especially considering FF4 is an upgraded version and all the extras you get with CT</div>
I couldn't stand CT. I used to be able to write entire essays on why I hated it, but my points are generally invalidated these days because I've found myself enjoying other games that employ aspects of CT that I didn't like.

<div style='font: 9pt arial; text-align: justify; '>Such as the mute main character, or the giant god-like main bad guy with no personality that you don't meet or have anything to do with, really, until the very end of the game. Actually, I don't think I've ever liked the mute main character bullshit, but I have grown to look past the bad guy issue in games like Grandia. I think part of it has to do with the fact that I just couldn't stand a single one of the characters, actually. The same thing happened to me with FF VIII, which is why I never could get past the second disc. My tolerance levels have dropped with age.
With CT, however, I was younger and managed to play the game all the way through, and Jesus, do I ever regret it. To this day, the thought of trying to play it again makes me want to hit myself. I actually attempted it a few months back (via a ROM), somewhat determined to give the game the second chance that I suppose it deserved. I managed to get about twenty minutes in before I deleted the thing from my computer.
I recognize that it employed a halfway enjoyable battle system for its time, and I'm still somewhat fond of the character designs by Toriyama, and I even find myself whistling that gay-ass tune from the carnival in the beginning of the game if I'm in a particularly good mood. But I'll never play it again. Ever.
And the things wrong with FF VI...Jesus, I'm not even going to get into it, here. Talk to Stephen. He can explain better than I why we both hate playing a dirty little thief wearing panties on his head.
