Popped in FFX to try it out for a bit today, ended up playing for five hours (wish i coulda saved). Beautiful looking, plays well, and easier to get into than any of the PSX ones (excluding maybe seven).

<div style='font: 12pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Oh yeah, and the battle system is finally less annoying! yes!! More boss fights and more of those "scripted battles" that woojin spoke of (with the special actions that are specific to those battles). Breaks the tedium, for sure.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Really? I found the MIdgar sequences more enthralling than anything else. Always thought the game went downhill after you were forced to leave the city.</div>

I'm exactly the opposite. I loved exploring that overworld (gotta love the Main Theme to that game), and it wasn't until that flashback sequence - the one where Seiphiroth walks into the wall of flames - that I was really into the story.

Now, I appreciate the Midgar parts of the game, but mainly because they're attached to the rest.

Man do I want to replay FF7. (Again.)</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Yup, Midgar was impressive, but I was still having doubts. It was that flashback scene that reassured me that everything was going to be okay.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "Arial bold"; text-align: left; '>Yep. Up to leaving Midgar, I couldn't put the game down. After that, the game became an average RPG, just with a kick-ass beginning</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Remember the Motorcycle scene? That takes Cloud and co. to the end of Midgar.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>They storm the Shinra building (or sneak into it, depending on your decision) to rescue Aeris, but they get captured. Eventually they escape with her and Red XIII. When they go to the Pres.' office they find that Sephiroth slaughtered Shinra Sr. They then head outside, where they battle Rufus who ends up escaping in a helicopter, followed by another battle with some robot following them down the elevator. After that, Cloud steals a motorcycle and the others take a car, which leads us to where we left off and makes a pretty fun mini game.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Well, but, it was great having those times where you can stop with the hectic forward pace, and really explore the world and other such things. Without that, it'd seem too much like a straight interactive movie.</div>
