<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I hope! The only way I'd go back to playing Civ2 is if some cool scenario came out for it. There's literally tens of thousands of them.

However, Civilization III promises to be even more customizable, and after 8 years, there should be a lot more stuff to be able to do with the game.

I started my last game tonight, on the large World map that came with the game. 7 Civilizations, normally, I'll play Vikings, English, Mongols, or Egyptians. The difficulty level is King, which in my opinion is the most entertaining to play. This time I played Romans (White), which was a favorite Civilization of mine to play when I was a kid. My first contact came with the Zulu's (Orange) when my Horsemen entered the African Continent, then shortly after, I came in contact with the Spanish. Next were the Vikings (Blue), who went to war against Spain (Purple). Then the Persians. Sometime later, he Celts (green) landed, and I still have heard nothing from the last Civilization. I am assuming the last Civilization (Yello) is the Aztecs or the Sioux, since I know that Japan is Empty.

Anyways, I began by trying to cut off the Spanish as much as possible from Expansion, they defeated the Vikings. The Vikings had explored all the way to China, they had a city there, but it was destroyed by Barbarians I think. A few turns later, the Americans were killed somehow, because it notified me of their death to Barbarians.

I began fortifying my border between the Spanish and my Empire, they had better military technology than me and a larger army. I walled all my border cities, and moved most of my army to the borders, building Forts where they were placed, usually in Forests, on Mountains, and on hills, except in the far east of Europe in the Slavic regions where everything is mostly plains. The Spanish had Cities on the other side of the Urals, but I had Cities all along the Urals, and have them fortified and being mined. My Empire stretches South to the Persian Empire, I have all of the Middle East + Egypt and North Africa under my control. A city in China, where the lands are fertile, with plans of expansion in that region.

So far, I have fought no wars, except against the Celts who are attempting to gain a foothold in Africa, and are currently at war with me, usually their ships don't make it past my Caravels which are defending the Coastline around the Strait of Gerbralter. I still haven't explored to North America, so I don't know what's over there, but I have discovered that the Zulu's have a foothold in South America, and that they have several cities in Australia, and have covered half of Africa, no cities outside of the lower part though, The Sahara and the Nile, the Red Sea area, and everything to the West is part of my Empire.

Right now, it looks like war between me and Spain is inevitable, they stole two techs from me, but I didn't declare war at that time because they overpowered me. At this point though, I have Metalurgy, which they don't have, and as soon as I learn Conscription, then, next move they make against me, and it's war =)</div>

Update, + link to new Civilization III Screenshots whcih give some insight into the game, including the new way of using Air Units, trade, Start-up screens, etc....

Anyways. To continue onto my LAST GAME OF CIVILIZATION II. In the East, I have expanded to 4 Cities in China, and have two Settlers (found in Huts to the North, who work without me having to pay support). The Persians don't seam to have reached this far East yet, I have discovered some huts in the China area. The closest Persian City that I know of is on the Western side of the Gobi Desert, though I have no doubt that they're all throughout India.

Relations between me and the Zulu's have deteriorated, they are expanding quickly, but are now limited, as I have 10 Cities in Northern Africa, they have about 15 more in the South, and they are large cities. Though Ravenna in Egypt is now probably the Largest City in the World. I have no idea what's going on in South America or Australia anymore, My borders in the South are poorly defended, and the Zulu's have the power to easily over run them.

The Aztecs are the North American Civilization, they have been building many Wonders, that is how I figured out it was them. There are 7 Civilizations in the game, but I don'thave a clue where Blue is, I'm guessing they're in North Eastern Asia, or the Distant North America, or Greenland. I have sent my explorers throughout most of Northern Asia to gather as many resource huts as possible. I had 3 of them, they were all killed by barbarians.

In the Middle East, I have a very heavily defended border with Fortresses, and Musketeers (two per fortress so I don't repeat the disaster that I'll talk about shortly after in Europe, especially here since none of my Middle East Cities have walls, this is my last major line of defense between the Romans and the Persians). I have a few people fortified to the North of Persia as well, few cities go much past the Afghanistan Desert, where I have 4 cities built, taking advantage of the Oasis' and some oil. There is one city however which I just built on Fertile grasslands with hills around in the Northern part of the Himilaya's. It's also walled now in case of a persian invasion, as it is a very at risk city.

In Europe and North Western Asia, the Spanish AGAIN stole tech from me, so I declared war, since I now had musketeers. I figured my heavy defenses would hold, but they bribed several units, and made their way to my border cities, which are all walled up. They took over several fortresses, most of my border fortresses were under their control within 5 turns of the beginning of the war. This war situation allowed the Celts a chance to land in North Africa, and the distant Northern Europe (which is firmly in Spanish hands), they are allied with the Spanish as well now.

By 10 turns, I had begun to match the Spanish with firepower, moving Units from all throughout my Empire into Europe. I discovered Conscription some turns later, and began to push through, and then I broke through their lines with a combined effort of Riflemen and Cannons. I fortified Riflemen on hills, in forests, anywhere that could be easily defended, all throughout Europe, about 15 Units, and this heavily disrupted their war efforts, as they couldn't move around freely in their country anymore. They stole Metallurgy from me, and now have cannons, I responded by moving any units close to cities, at least one square away, so if they send out a Cannon, I will destroy it. All their cities are walled, so I can't do much. To take their cities, though I did take two fairly insignificant cities, one in North Eastern Europe about 6 squares to the West of the Urals, and one about 4 Squares to the East of the Urals, they have a few more walled cities in Northern Asia, but I'm not concerned with them now, they are no major threat. The Spanish Empire is under control now, they won't sign a Peace treaty, and it doesn't matter either way.

On to the Celts, I had to call off my blockade on Brittain, the Spanish fleet combined with the Celt Fleet numbers about 20 Caravels against my 6 or 7, only 3 or 4 of these are Celtish. I destroyed a Celt City in Africa, and Conquered Cork, which was in Northern Europe, and unwalled. The Celts developed Magnatism which gave them a significant advantage over me in Naval area, I suspect that they have expanded Westward beyond the Brittish Isles. I began pumping out many many Caravels in the Medditeranian, mostly from North Africa, and sent them North as warships, and managed to defeat the Spanish fleet. The Celts didn't have enough ships around Europe to do much. I destroyed 2 Caravels and 1 Frigate from the Celts.

By the time I had Europe under control, I also had the Western Atlantic under my control, I sent 6 Crusaders, 3 Cannons, and 3 Riflemen to Brittain. I desroyed the City of Kells just South of where London should be, and marched North and West destroying Caernavion, and conquering Amargh which is in the far north, not much defense their, the City has a population of 5. I fortified the forest square just outside of Cardiff, which is too strong for me to take at this time. Sent 2 Settler units to Great Brittain, and built a City where London should be, and fortified it with a Rifleman. I also Acquired Magnetism.

My next goal is to begin expansion of trade, there isn't much I can do militarilly for the next 50-75 or so turns. I'm glad for siege in Civ 3 and Armies, I hate walls =)</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "comic sans MS"; text-align: left; '>I destroyed two civs before the year 1000AD. Paying another country to wage war against another helps keep their tech and expansion limited to a crawl. =8^D</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "comic sans MS"; text-align: left; '>Forget...there were 5 others left. But they were in a weak state since they were such war mongers. I ruled with an iron fist. Poisoning cities into oblivion is my way of keeping all cities far apart.</div>
