Kingdom Hearts, and FF11

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I was reading the GIA impressions of Kingdom Hearts and there's something that bothers me. They said the game's going to be real time with no pausing, and that means like PSO you'll be getting smacked as you're trying to use items. I recall this system didn't work out very well in PSO. If you didn't have an item or a spell hotkeyed it was practically impossible to use it in mid battle. Of course, I'm sure Square is aware of what worked and what didn't with PSO. The most logical thing would be to make items relatively weak so you can use them to recover in downtime but none of your standard 'gulping Elixirs every 2 rounds' deal. Frankly, it's about time someone breaks the abusive item scheme that exists in all RPGs.

Didn't see they mentioning Riku in the demo. Then again, I've the feeling he's watching as opposed to participating, until you actually get to the Door.

The new FF11 posters look pretty interesting. The graphics is certainly on par with any MMORPG out there, if not better (this is Square after all). Now let's just see if they can get the gameplay part figured out. I think Square has a reasonable knowledge of game balance. I mean, they made all those RPG and they clearly know what's overpowered (Lionheart, Omnislash, etc...) and what's not (spellcasting in general). Brad McQuaid recently left EverQuest. Maybe Square can recruit him? :)

Did anyone see the Japanese commericial for Playonline? It shows this girl playing FF11 on Playonline and formed a party to attack some dragon, and later she was walking around town when she received an email from one of her party members. Some cool-looking guy with sunglasses walks by and says, "Hey, you play FF11 too?", and the girl answered, "Yeah, I was XYZ and we took on some dragon yesterday". Of course, it turned out that guy was one of the people she played with yesterday.

I don't know about you, but this sure tops any goofy American commericial I've heard about.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>The gia used to have a bunch up but I think they're worried about bandwidth and i don't think they're there.

I saw one commercial, i don't even know what for, where this businessman guy is following this beautiful girl'sback in a slit-all-the-way-up lace shirt with long flowing hair to hit on her, stops at a traffic light...and the back turns around to reveal a Japanese hippie-looking guy with a mustache who smiles lovingly at the businessman. I was just like "dork!!!!!" but it was funny though, i don't know why, but it kind of made you care about the whole thing</div>
