Okay, now that the EB here has put up both a Gamecube and an Xbox (with Halo, not the shitty sampler disc) for frigging around with, I've finally had some time with both controllers...

<div style='font: 10pt "arial narrow"; text-align: left; padding: 0% 5% 0% 5%; '>Conclusion: One is too big, one is too small.
Now, it's nothing extreme, or nothing that couldn't be adapted to in time, but after about 15 minutes with each, I can say I like neither of them at this point. And let the record show that I have quite a patience and ability to adapt to controllers (I love the DC controller, don't know why some others do not).
The worst of the two, I felt, was the Gamecube controller. Now I'll say it again so you freaks don't jump down my throat: I'm sure I could adapt to this in time. But from the time I spent with it, it's just too fucking small, and Lee, you're right: the D-pad is comically tiny. I was going to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt that this system WASN'T going to be marketed as the "kiddy console", but I'm not so sure now. My hands are a tad larger than usual, in proportion to the rest of me, and even if they were a little bit smaller, I could still see handling the GC controller difficult. I liked the N64 controller a lot, it seemed to work for almost any type of game( except fighters). The Gamecube itself is smaller than I thought it was -- looks neat.
The Xbox's controller still seems a bit on the big side, but it wasn't as oversized as the GC's controller was undersized. That's about the only big complaint I can make about it, aside from the button layout just not feeling right. I'd prefer the buttons to be more circular rather than the oval/tear shapes they're in now.
And EB is still forcing people to buy the friggin' "bundle packs" to get an Xbox... or here, at least. No wonder there were plenty there. No GC's though.</div>
