The FFX demo is pretty eh... limited. I didn't find much to like (aside from the amazing cinemas). Then again, I didn't like the FFVIII demo either, but the game kicked ass...

<div style='font: 10pt "arial narrow"; text-align: left; padding: 0% 5% 0% 5%; '>Seems like it's another game in the FF series that "purists" will hate.
I'm glad Square decided to go with the realistic character designs again (not super deformed). And although the demo doesn't give you a real sense of the characters at all, Auron and Lulu look cool (Lulu reminds me of Edea).
The English voice acting is okay, but I'm not expecting Metal Gear or Soul Reaver/Blood Omen quality.</div>

What does the demo cover?

Okay.

<div style='font: 10pt "arial narrow"; text-align: left; padding: 0% 5% 0% 5%; '>Well first, by purists I of course meant the whiney bunch that tend only to like a FF game if there's knights and wizards and dragons and goblins and castles and such. FFX is more like it's PS1 predecessors (except 9) than the ones for NES/SNES.
Anyway, the demo has two playable sections, both very linear.
The first is using Tidus and Auron after a Blitzball game gets disrupted by Sin, and shit starts blowing up. Auron and Tidus get sucked up into it (Auron says something like "this is only the beginning"), and that's the end.
The second is not as linear. Tidus begins in a forest fighting one of Yuna's summons (I think)... looks like a wolfman type-thing. Then you take him, Wakka, Yuna, and Lulu across a few screens until they get on a boat in some village and take off. That one ends there. It's not as linear as the first demo, you can walk around and get into random battles if you want.
Don't tell me anything about what happens before or after those, yo.</div>
I know many people didn't like FFVII style character designs.

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>However, for some strange reason, I seemed to really like Squall. It's probably just me, but I found the way the game focused a bit on his inner thoughts rather than what he said, a good way to tell a story.</div>
