Got Dragon Warrior 7, played about 4 hours, but I don't really see how this game is ANYTHING like part 3 or 4 aside from some of the Monsters and music

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Well, I haven't been in any fights yet, which seams very strange considering that the beginning of most Enix games are packed full of battles. Some of the puzzels were fun to solve; there was one that stumped me for a little while, it was kind of obscure, you had to look through holes in statues and see ancient pictures of monsters etc... Then match them up somewhere else, only I had no idea that the other room where you had to match them up existed until I gave up on the other room and went off exploring, very vague, but that's the sort of stuff I like seeing in any kind of Epic game, it makes it much more rewarding to get through and at the same time testing your intelligence. I don't really have much of an opinion of the game so far, it is very different from Dragon Warrior 3 and 4. I guess the game will pick up with the battles eventually, so far I have no real problems with the graphics or anything, I'd probably be playing the new Final Fantasy (I've just gone through the first hour or so, it seams like it will be good, but it's not as impresive as people made it out to be, there are a lot of other games I'd rather be playing right now) instead game if I did have a problem with the graphics in RPG's. The music is exactly what I hoped it would be, a lot of it is remixed versions of music from the older games. That whole Temple in DW7 that I just went through was actually pretty fun, even though there were no Monsters in it.

I have recently played through the new GBC version of Dragon Warrior 3, now THIS is a great game, one of the greatest RPG's ever made, and by far the best on NES and GBC (I haven't played Golden Sun all the way through yet, it's kind of like a cross between Lufia and Chrono Trigger, one thing that made Chrono Trigger so great was that the atmosphere of the game was a lot like Enix RPG's, it seams much more like an Enix game than a Square game). It brings me back, I remember liking this game (DW3) a lot more than Final Fantasy 2 and Mystic Quest. Nothing much has changed, well, they fixed a few things in the game and added some cool features to it, STILL a great game. This is what I was hoping Dragon Warrior 7 would be like, but sadly, it's not, Dragon Warrior 7 seams to be taking the route of many Squaresoft games like Final Fantasy, and has more or less ignored the addictive gameplay aspect that made the series fun in the past, then again, I haven't really played far enough along, perhaps once I get into the game... I'm still more or less at the Introduction Act in the game. Terranigma, the first chapter and a half of the game sort of lacked the addictive aspect that a lot of Enix games seam to have, but then, once into the game, it's extremely hard to put down (last time I played it, I literally couldn't, Especially from the dawn of Civilization, until it was finished and I had maxed out every city in the game), same with Dragon Warrior 3 except that the whole game is pretty much addictive. Illusion of Gaia on the otherhand, great game, but it lacked the addictiveness of its sequel (Terranigma), so there's of course a chance that DW3 might not have it either, Illusion of Gaia seamed exactly like Zelda a Link to the Past, except with more challenging final battles.

Overall, if Dragon Warrior 7 does pick up, and is ANYTHING like the previous Dragon Warrior games, then this could possibly be the best RPG on Playstation (just an assumption, the only two people I know who have played the game say it's the best, of course, one of them is from Japan, the other is one of those insane anime chicks). I know a lot of people complained about the graphics, but then again, if they changed them, it wouldn't be Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) anymore, just like some of the newer Final Fantasy games. Still, they could probably make the transformation of the game into 3D and have a great game. Nintendo did it with the Zelda series, Ocarina of Time is by far the best of that series, but still has relatively the same look and feel of the older games.

Update, got in a fight, the graphics are the same as most GBA RPG fights (Well, the same as Golden Sun at least). The other characters fight on their own and there are a few additions to the battle system, skills and stuff. You can't see your characters on the screen during battles. That's about it so far.</div>
