Picked up Tales of Destiny II. Might return it. Anyone else played it?

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>Really, it seems like a good, solid RPG, I'm just not getting into it. The graphics are really nice—lucious 2D stuff that we probably won't see much of in the future—and it's a nice change to have battles fought in a fighting-game style. The dialouge is even a bit above average (certainly better than Xenogears), but despite all this, it's really generic.

I'm like three or four hours into the game, and I've run into my <i>second</i> Wise Old Man. That's a bit much. This party of kids is going on a quest to save the world. I've gotten Undine, the water "Greater Craymel"—Esper, elemental, same old deal. Oh, and surprise, I have to get the other ones, Fire, Earth and eventually Light. The scenarios are all just so typicaly generic that I can't bring myself to care.

Has anyone else played the game? Does it eventually get less generic and have more to lure the player in? If not, I'll probably return it and just have store credit.</div>

WHIS beats me up, therefore the game sucks

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Well, actually WHIS is one of the more enjoyable part of the game (a mini game).

It's not a bad game, it's just too generic for me to finish playing it. I tried the hard difficulty and it's pretty frustrating. Boss fights are typically just button mashing craziness since most bosses can break out of any kind of combo, unlike Tale of Destiny where you are pretty much guarnateed that a combo will at least finish most of the time.</div>
