US Xbox games won't work with Japanese contollers or arcade style fighting pads!

Sources from Microsoft's X-Box division and independent developers sent a number of e-mails to NCS yesterday after we posted our little FAQ. Unfortunately, Microsoft appears to have mandated that all USA X-Box software titles not recognize any controllers from other territories. Japanese controllers won't work with USA X-Box software.
This policy apparently extends from joypads to future joysticks from the usual suspects such as ASCII and Hori. When and if ASCII manufactures a Fighting Type pad/stick for the Japanese X-Box market, USA gamers won't be able to share in the love. There you have it. The first console to ever completely lock out import controllers. Bravo...</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Off of IGN and Gamespot. It was a comment made by the president of Sony Entertainment Japan. I'm fairly certain I posted it here too. It was around November, just as the 'Cube and Xbox were coming out</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>It'll take another year or two for the PS2 to show it's age over the others. It's clearly the least powerful of the 3, even if it has the best games. They just want to get the jump on the others before they lose ground I would imagine. They might cut the development cycle down by a year</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "comic sans MS"; text-align: left; '>Well, that "least powerful of the three" is starting to look less truthful. Especially from programmers who are finding out that the EE may have more potential than the existing Xbox technology.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Come now G-man...you are smarter than that...or are you actually a fanboy?
Besides, I doesn't matter which console has the best hardware, it's which has the best games...obviously the PS2.
So what are you so pissy and anti-Xbox for?

There's a game from Codemasters called ToCa and you'll see what I'm talking about. Also the creators of WRC2001 has a new software engine that will make better use of the EE for WRC2002. There are equal amounts of interviews by other developers saying some Xbox and GC games can not be done on the PS2. From what I've seen of Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions for Xbox, I don't think that game could be done on the PS2 (not now at least)...

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Hmm, one of the biggest companies in the world with a system that's easily more powerful, not to mention the hella marketing campaign. This has translated into current success and given Sony a competitor who's as big as they are. That's called a threat</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>...One of the biggest international companies in the world (who has their hands in almost everything to do with electronics), with more experience with consoles and a proven leader in the industry. Sony is not a company to fuck with. MS jumped in expecting the console guys to play nice with the new guy, and it's not working. Even though Nintendo has had more experience that the rest, they have been seriously slipping since the mistake that was the Nintendo 64, but they are still topping the XBox. Sony proved to be a better player in the game, and since then, Sega has dropped out, but even so, the Dreamcast is still better than the XBox.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>One simple thing proves my point: the president of Sony Computer Entertainment (Kutagari, I think) pointed out that they might have to speed up the R&D process of the PS3 thanks to Microshaft. That's good enough for me</div>

Outcast and GT3 for the PS2 look a lot better than Rogue Leader.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I'll stand by that too if you're wondering, and while GT3 could be argued with, there is no way you can say Outcast looks worse than Rogue Leader.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>GT3 does look incredible, but Rogue Leader is jaw-dropping. Put two TVs side by side, on showing the final batte in A New Hope and the other showing the first level of Rogue Leader, then you'll see what I mean. It's simple the best-lookin' game I've ever seen</div>
Sony may have by quite a distance the widest userbase for Home Console gaming, but only in 1997 did their profits exceed Nintendo's (but that's because Nintendo has Gameboy and are pretty much nazi's when it comes to royalties and licensing and exploiting

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I doubt Microsoft is going to be profitable, they are making all the same mistakes Sega did in that they have an overpriced add campaign, overpriced hardware, underpriced licensing fee's, etc... That's why they don't anticipate any profit on the console for a while yet (I forget how long it was).
Then again, I doubt Microsoft jumped into this blindly actually believeing they were going to monopolize the Industry rright away, they'll likely continue on until they have a huge amount of development support, then they'll start pulling up the prices and make a good profit.</div>
