E3 bomb : Xbox price drop to $199! They needed it. Gamecube, even with a few titles, was beginning to kick Xbox's ass (Seeker, not surprised). Sony is expected to make an announcement soon.

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Still a rumour, but man, I'd love it if it happens. (I know it appeared on a supposed future WalMart flyer, but it didn't happen officially yet)</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>The only reason I'd care is if it made Sony drop their price, and then in turn Nintendo dropped theirs so I could finally buy a Gamecube.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>...since it wasn't denied either, seems pretty damn likely.
I'm surprised...but glad. Microsoft knew Sony(or was it Nintendo) was going to do a price drop at or post-E3...so they are simply striking first...
If anything, it shows Microsoft is really serious about getting into the console market by taking a HUGE hit in hardware profits...</div>

Microsoft is the agressor in this price war for a very good reason....

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Look at their sales world-wide:
- current Xbox sales are the level of 2000 N64 sales in Japan. I mean, it's pathetic. Not too long ago, I checked the weekly sales at Magic Box, and they sold 1800 units. Sad. Their best selling game is DOA3 and I don't think it's even hit 100,000 copies yet. That's hurting...big
- in the US, Nintendo's GameCube CURRENTLY (past month and a half or so) outselling the Xbox ('Box still had more overall), and that's with a nothing lineup, not a single big release from Nintendo since Smash Bros. Ouch
- Europe: not too bad in Germany thanks to an extreme price war, OK in England, lukewarm in Austrailia even with an extreme price drop.
I'm not praising one system over the other, just looking at the business aspect. Right now, Microsoft is getting crushed and they feel the only way they can get back into it (and try to survive) is by aggressive pricing. That will force Sony (can't be more expensive than 'Box for too long) and Nintendo (can't be same price as 'Box) to drop as well. And I'll be there awaiting the spoils of war :-)</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Oh, I saw and I immediately asked my friend for a used PS2 system. Right as I said it wasn't guaranteed last night, Sony jumps the gun on Microsoft. I like....I like a lot :-)</div>
