<div style='font: italic 12pt "Times New Roman"; text-align: left; '>...oy, been awhile. The more things change, the more they stay the same...what idiot wrote that? Things change and they keep on changing...except for G-Man...shouldn't you be a corpse by now you crusty bastard?

...anyway, I suppose I should talk about games, this is gamethought and I have been playing them again. Playing them with a re-born joy and intensity that takes me back to my youth. What could have brought this about? What could have turned this oh-so recently jaded and worn out gamer into a little kid again? Well, it was one little game that gave me a fresh start, made me excited about what games can do to me, and even let me look on older games with new eyes. A little game called Grand Theft Auto 3...the greatest fucking videogame ever made!

...anybody that picked that repetitive, melodramatic and very annoying re-hash of a game called Metal Gear Solid 2 over GTA 3 as game of the year must be mildly retarded. Well, that's a bit harsh. Don't get me wrong, MGS2 was an enjoyable game to play...especially when you can skip the story scenes and the game only runs about 4 hours. But compared to what GTA3 did, it isn't even close. I have had more fun with GTA3 than a person can usually have within legal limits. I could go on and on about all the things that are great about it, but you've heard it all before, or experienced it first hand. It just fucking rules! And finally, FINALLY they made a game for the Atari/NES generation, for those of us who've grown up beyond plumbers and pac-man. It's okay to still make games aimed at the kids, but don't forget that some of those same kids have grown up.

...okay, what other games have I been playing...I mentioned MGS2...and I was somewhat disappointed with it. Gameplay-wise, aside from the first-person angle, it didn't really change all that much from the first one. That's not really a bad thing, but I was really expecting ssomething more. What I wasn't expecting was that incredibly stupid plot. I thought I tuned in an episode of Passions...and who decided that pansy Raiden would be a good lead? Maybe if he'd actually lived up to his back-story of a stone cold child killer he would've been almost as cool as Snake, but instead he's a sloppy amateurish goof. I enjoyed Metal Gear Solid 2 almost as much as the first one. It was extremely fun to play, but let me down in a lot of little places.

...Final Fantasy X...shit, I love these games. And that's all I'm gonna say on that. I've learned to just enjoy Square's games and not talk about them...with anybody...ever...

...the only other game I've played all the way since I got the PS2 is Dragon Warrior VII. This is the other game that really renewed my love for playing. Even FFX felt a bit like going through the motions. But this one, right from the start, put me into that state of mind I remember so well from the first time I fired up Phantasy Star on the Sega Master System. It's RPG's at their most basic, and most fun. Despite the crappy graphics, and tinny music, I just had an irresistible urge to find the next piece of shard, open the next island. It's every cliche there is about RPG's, but things become cliche because they work every time. It's just fun. The only thing missing was the insane difficulty level. A bit on the easy side for an Enix game.

...well, that's about it. Just started playing Tales of Destiny II (been loving the extreme price drop for PSX games...pretty much completed my collection for the system) and it's pretty damn fun. Beautiful graphics and the same fun action based battles. Worth a look...
