• Influential 32bit/64bit games you played

 • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Here's my list:

Final Fantasy 7 (you said influential, which doesn't necessarily mean good)
Super Mario 64
Metal Gear Solid
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Tekken
Resident Evil
Goldeneye

That's really about it. All but FF7 are excellent games and I think Tekken 2 was the best, but these games had the most impact on the market IMO. If I was to list the best games I've played in the 32/64-bit era, it would include a lot of others, but these are the revolutionary ones from that generation.

I was new to RPGs at the time. My first classic RPG I ever played. Before that, I was playing Vandal Hearts, a board strategy RPG. Hence, Wild ARMs being influential.

You got me, Kupek is just me in disguise. Seriosuly though, the word influential usually means how a single thing effects a very broad number of things, an influential game would influence other people to make games similar to that one (same with a song, TV show, car, or TV model).

FF7
Set the stage for all further RPGs from this generation of consoles. I played Wild ARMs before I played FF7, but Wild ARMs was more of a pumped up 16-bit RPG.

The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time
I never owned an N64, but I played a fair amount of this game. It set the standard in my mind for this type of adventure game.

Metal Gear Solid
Best movie-like atmosphere I'd had in a game, really fun gameplay.

Resident Evil 2
First time a game has not just creeped me out (Blood on the computer did that), but actually scared me. I've yet to play another surival horror game, though, even though I think I'd like them. I don't think it would be quite the same; RE2 was the first I played, so it was all original to me.

Castlevania: SotN
Convinced me that spectacular 2D games could be done on any console.

Just a few for now.

FF7

I don't think I really need to explain this one.

MGS

Ditto, yo.

Resident Evil

Pretty much created a genre (debatable), has become one of the best selling series. I loved it, and am a huge fan of the series now.

Goldeneye 007

Proved console FPSers can be as good as their PC counterparts (shut up), or better.

Silent Hill

While I love RE, none of them ever really scared or freaked me out. This game did.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 6

Breaks no new ground, broke no sales records, but it was probably my favorite 32/64-bit game (that's a big probably) so I'm putting it here.

Tekken

I was an huge Tekken fan up until Tag... not so much now. But it was my favorite fighting game series for a long time.

Zelda: tOoT

No need to explain.

That's all I can think of now.
