OK, so who here is getting Metroid when it comes out in 9 days? Are you getting Prime, Fusion, or both?

Not really. "First Person Shooter" is a particular genre. It may allow shooting in the first person, but calling it an FPS means a very particular thing.

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>"Hot chocolate" is a hot drink that (at least) taste like some sort of chocolate. Heating up a stick of chocolate, while it can be described as hot chocolate, does not fit what we normally call "hot chocolate." Hence, we don't call it "hot chocolate" because that would be confusing - or, if we do, it is understood that we do not mean a hot drink that tastes like chocolate.

Likewise, a "first person shooter" is a particualr genre, and just because a game can be described as a game in which you shoot things from the first person, doesn't mean it's a "first person shooter." I think the analogy fits quite nicely, and I'm not sure how you're interpreting it.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>The default set up is fine from a button placement point of view. It's more the reaction time and "stiffness" that gets me. <div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Do you even know what a FPS is? Go ahead and define it for me...

Then define Metroid and where you believe it fits...

-Does it use 1st person POV?
-Do you shoot things?
-Do you have lots of different weapons?
-Is your arrcuracy and damage decided by fixed amounts, not D&D-type rolls?

I've seen the Metroid trailers, I know what its about. I've also read an EGM interview where what's-his-name-famous-jap-producer admitted Metroid sound like an FPS (he's never played one before) but his marketing team told him to push FPA (or something like that).
