Now let's eliminate all non-must own games.
That's sort of a matter of opinion. Some people (like me) only buy a console for RPGs and fighters (or the occasional THPS game). Some will be hits, some will be must-haves, and some depend on the audience.
PS2:
Suikoden 3 <---RPG, you can live without it, nobody will kill themselves getting it.
I've been hearing rave reviews on it, in this forum.
Wild ARMs 3 <---Smaller audience then Suikoden
It's still a RPG. Among this crowd, I'd expect many ppl to get it.
Tekken 4 <---Perhaps if Namco advertised it a bit more, and it got more recognition it would be a must own..
They don't have to. The arcade game was great, and the Tekken name is popular. I think I have seen a couple commericials on it anyway.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 <---Awesome series, people will break their neck to get it.
Yep.
Breath of Fire 5 <---Umm no.
Might be a sleeper hit. Some ppl really like the BoF series. (1/2 point)
Kingdom Hearts <---Sleeper Hit.
Definately not. I'd been hearing NOTHING but talk about this game (this forum and otherwise) when it came out.
GTA: Vice City <---Big hit, murder will take place to get this game.
Yep.
Rygar <---What the hell?
A lot of Rygar fans are waiting for this one. (1/2 point)
Shinobi <---Maybe...
Same here, except this one is more popular and has been advertized more.
WWE Smackdown <---They sell decently.
Enough wrestling fans here. (1/2 point)
The Sims <---I personally don't see this selling well on home systems.
Yeah, I'll give you that, though the game is a very popular series, so some will get it, if they don't have a PC. (1/4 point)
SOCOM <---It's fun and all, but the online part is gonna turn some off.
Hell, the online part has turned ON most ppl. One of the first titles with support for it. (3/4 point)
Onimusha 2 <---It should sell well.
Yep.
Hitman 2 <---Dunno about this one.
Been hearing some good reviews on this one also.
Dead to Rights (in 2 days) <----Not a huge hit.
Depends. The PS2 version might have fixed some of the control issues that the PC version had, and that was the ONLY thing bringing it down. (3/4 point)
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (in 3 days) <---Not a huge hit.
Maybe not, but it'll get the SW fans. (1/4 point)
Giants: Citizen Kabuto (Dec) <-- Another non-huge hit.
Honestly, I've never heard of it myself until Kali mentioned it. (0 points)
Devil May Cry 2 (end of Jan) <---Next year, it'll do well.
Definately.
.hack (Feb) <---RPG gamers will like it, that's about all.
I've seen it in action on TechTV. Very cool.
Star Ocean 3 (Feb) <---Mainstream audience may like it due to awesome graphics if they advertise it hard.
RPG = profit. Plain and simple. Still plenty of fans of the series. (1/2 point)
Xenosaga (March) <-- Not a huge hit.
Bullshit. Xenogears was one of the best RPGs Squaresoft ever put out. This will sell OUT! (1/2 point, cuz it's pretty far off)
Gamecube:

Mario Sunshine <---It's Mario it'll sell well.
Mario Party 4 <---It's Mario and friends it'll sell well.
Time Splitters 2 <---Closest thing to GoldenEye they'll be having in a while, dunno about sales.
Animal Crossing <---Huge Sleeper hit, not everyone wants to play a cutesy game.
Resident Evil 0 <---RE Franatics such as myself will definately get it, appeals to everyone, yet the remake of the original only sold decently not breaking platnium status.
Sonic Mega Collection <----They're asking way to much for this, and there's no Sonic CD.
Super Monkey Ball 2 <----Sleeper hit, if it's as good as Seeker claims.
Starfox Adventures <---Trash/
Phantasy Star Online 1-2 <---If it sells 500,000 and 1/3 go online it'll be successful due to the ridiculous price it costs per month to get on.
Metroid Prime (tomorrow) <---Mega-Seller.
James Bond 007: NightFire (tomorrow) <---no clue how bond games have been selling since GoldenEye.

Pretty much agree with all of these. Forgot to put in Zelda in March. (1/2 point for that one.)
XBox:

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance <---I'd definately pick this up if I owned a X-Box.
MechAssault <---Another nice game, but how it sells I dunno.
Unreal Championship <---Gotta wonder how many X-Box owners want another FPS.
Shenmue II <---It's gonna bomb, nobody wants all that exploration and no action.
Steel Battalion (in 2 days) <---I'm gonna say whatever.
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball (coming in Jan) <---If they advertise it right, many horny young men will get it.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (coming in Feb) <---Not a huge hit.

Ditto. (1/2 point for SW.)
Splinter Cell for the X-Box, it kicks ass.
No release date, so I didn't put it in.

Even if I gave (mostly) every GC/XBox title one point, the score would look like:
PS2 - 15.5 points
GC - 11 points
XBox - 6.5 points
I'll admit that I don't know much on titles for the XBox or Gamecube, so send me some titles, and I'll put them on the list.
