  • Xbox loss getting worse.

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>But they're entrenched in #2 worldwide now (well, not Japan, but pretty solid in US and Europe). That's what they were expecting</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "Fine Hand"; text-align: left; '>GC a close 3rd. It won't be long before they take 2nd place. Trust me.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>And I remember them expecting a big loss as they established themselves...

If I cared, I'd look for the article.

I am not sure where you get this Microsoft is #2 worldwide. Of the 41.9 Million console units shipped last year, PS2 = 63%, Gamecube = 21%, Xbox = 16%</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>From a game standpoint, GC is the DC of this generation: best games that no one is playing. From a sales standpoint, they have a lot of work to do to overtake MS</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>That's not a good comparisson. Dreamcast had a major piracy problem, Gamecube doesn't. No game on Dreamcast sold over a million, there have been several on Gamecube that have (SSBM has sold 3 million+ WW)</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Umm, look harder, you have this tendancy to only find Nintendo material, that makes them look like gods.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Well why would you bother to post Nintendo's selling of certain console games when the question asked was how they did during the holidays.</div>

<div style='font: ; text-align: left; '>Isn't the loss caused by the good sales of XBOX, since MS suffers a loss for each XBOX sold?</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>If Microsoft wants to lose 10 billion dollars on a console, I'm not going to complain. I think the next time around they will go with a cheaper model though. Unless Bill Gates is just in the business for fun =P</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Marketing costs and expensive projects like Xbox live (didn't they say they were going to invest 2 billion into it over the next couple of years?). I think I'll stick with my theory that Bill Gates isn't in the business for profit, he's in it for fun =P</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "Fine Hand"; text-align: left; '>For dominance. I spoke to someone who works for a small family owned ISP and he says that MS runs MSN.COM at a loss. No ISP can compete with MSN and they're on the way to dominating the ISP market. MS is doing the same in the console market. But Sony is well entrenched.</div>
