I played the Doom III E3 demo. First gameplay impression: Resident Evil FPS.

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>My friend has a GeForce4 MMX, so Doom III only ran in 640x480 with the detail turned all the way down. It was impressive, but not as impressive as it could have been because of that. The shadows, however, are really good. The shadow from an overhead fan is a great atmospheric effect.

The character models are also impressive. Finally, faces are more than just a few polygons with a few textures.

Gameplay reminded me of Resident Evil done as a first person shooter. Lots of zombies lurking around corners and such, just not in a mansion.

I experienced one great melding of graphic effects and gaemplay. I shotgunned some ugly ass creature, then turned around and looked through a window. The window shows reflections even though you can still see through it. Like a real window. It's impressive. Well, I'm sitting there, admiring the pretty graphics, and all of a sudden, I see this huge lumbering monster pop up behind my reflection in the window. I freak, turn around and shoot him again. Nice.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Argh... I love Doom, and really want to play #3... but I only have a GeForce2 MMX, so I guess I'm SOL. :)</div>
