I'm about 11 hours in and FF9 is quickly turning out to be one of the best in the series. If it keeps it up, it'll be up there not only with CC as the best of the PSX RPGs, but also up there with FF4 and maybe even FF6 as the best in the series

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>I thought it was one of the better games of the series. And yeah, Vivi rocks.</div>

Blah, I didn't even really like "FF4 (IINA)" or Chrono Cross. I also liked Final Fantasy 9 better the first time through than FF6 (or Final Fantasy III on the continent where NEARLY ALL OF US COME FROM!!!), it lacked the replayability of "F

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Also if you know the plot of the original Final Fantasy, then Final Fantasy 9 is a real treat. Seriously, this game is probably the most underated in the series (sorry to say, it's my opinion that Final Fantasy II and/or 4j is the most overated of the series, speaking of the general consensus here at the Shrine, many of you seam to really like this game, yet what qualities are there to like? It's about as fun as Lufia 2 and has no real advantages over any other game in the series). Yeah I didn't like Final Fantasy 7 all that much, but the beginning of it totally rocked and if that was all the game was, then I still would have been more satisfied with that than I was with Final Fantasy II.

Wow, I really should cut back a little more on the essays, all my posts nowadays seam to be rants =P</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Far, far too much menu based weapon switching. Having to change weapons two or three times a room is rather common.</div>

He's getting there. Still not very sure of himself where I am, but with the right staff, he can do serious damage........

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Of course, right now they split my group up into the Gods (Beatrix, Freya, and Steiner) and the Wimps (Zidane, Garnett, and Vivi). What sadistic programer came up with that? I got one group where each character can wipe out anything I face on his/her own and the other were I gotta watch it a little (it's not THAT hard, but you do have to pay attention, unlike the other group which just crushed EVERYTHING).

I also love the characters and how there's actual separation in the classes and their abilities and strengths/weakness, unlike previous games in the series (yes, another jab at FF&)</div>
