<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>"Shigeru Miyamoto agreed with criticism that the [Super Mario Sunshine] game was too hard. ... The word has since come from up high to make games less challenging."
The game wasn't that hard at all. It wasn't a cake-walk, but it was tough or anything. Dear God, people can't be that fucking wimpy. It's the youngin's, I'm tallin' ya.
As well:
"[Nintendo's E3] focus will be on third-party titles, rather than homegrown Nintendo games."
That's a big change. I think they're setting themselves up for the next gen
"Harrison's gut feeling is online Nintendo games are 'probably a few years away.'"
Yeah, next gen. The 'Cube and PS2 aren't really properly set up for it, nothing like the Xbox

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Well, if you look at most Japanese games, they are all very easy, at least since NES days. So of course people are going to complain when Mario Sunshine is as difficult as a European/North American platformer.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>Yeah, I guess maybe it's cause I only just did what i had to to beat Sunshine, but I got all the stars and stuff on M64</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>That's not the point. The game wasn't that hard but people are complaining how hard it was......no one wants any effort forth anymore, they want things spoon-fed to them...</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>Games are becoming too easy as it is, the last thing we need is people whining about them being too hard. It's not about "proving you're good" it's about being challenged. If a game isn't challenging what's the point of playing?</div>
I want enough challenge to be fun. I have yet to encounter a game that failed to have enough challenge to be fun.

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>I play games to have fun. Some challenge is necessary, but this attitude of people being "babies" for not wanting the level of challenge Zeus wants is ridiculous. We're not training special forces here, this is a medium for entertainment - you're not proving anything by taking on more difficult games. My academic pursuits are difficult enough, if you want to talk about some sort of an intellectual challenge or something. I want a fun escape, not frustration.
Some of my favorite games are quite easy: Chrono Trigger, all of the Final Fantasies, Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario World. Even when it comes to "difficulty," I prefer the type of difficulty present in Super Metroid and Metroid Prime - that is, not in the game mechanics, but just in figuring out where the stuff is and where to go.
Take Super Castlevania and Symphony of the Night. Both of these games are easier than the NES Castelvania games. Personally, I see this is a good thing; I don't want to spend hours frustrating myself for a videogame. I'm not twelve anymore, I don't have as much time to spend.
If I get Final Fantasy Origins, I'm going to play the first Final Fantasy on the easy mode. You all can have your hardcore gamer cred. I just want to have some fun, and I don't want to spend hours upon hours leveling up to do it.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>Lemme put it to you this way: do you want to rent the game, beat it, and give the game back? Or do you want a game that's hard enough that you might need to buy the thing?</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>But if a game isn't a challenge it ISN'T fun! If you don't wanna be challenged then go rent a fuckin' movie. It'll be cheaper</div>
Bah to you! There's way too many games out there that let you save whenever you like, give you as many chances as you want to do something, have half-assed AI's that can be defeated by slamming a single button, etc., etc.

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>These are games, after all. What's the point in playing a game when you can't lose? None. I'm not saying we should go back to the NES days of 3 lives and 2 continues, but there should be some threat of dying/losing/having to backtrack, otherwise the game isn't exciting and exciting = fun.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>That's not an issue with the games I listed that are easy. Developers don't have to make a game "hard" to make it last a long time.</div>
