My review of The Bouncer from 2 minutes of "playing": it sucks...

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>Okay, I was at EB today, and they have a bunch of really good used games for sale. I spotted Devil May Cry for 17.99, so I grabbed it. Then I spotted The Bouncer for the same price. I didn't want to pay for both of them, but I noticed on the back that it said "1-4 Players" with a multi-tap. So I thought to myself, "Hey, I have 4 controllers and a multi-tap, so this might be a fun multi-player game." So, I had...

...put down Devil May Cry...

...and picked up The Bouncer. After paying for my games, I eventually went home. Shellie wanted to play something, too, so we decided to put in The Bouncer. I put the game in and started it up. I made sure everything was plugged in while we watched the intro.

After the intro, it said to hit Start. So I hit Start. It didn't Start.

I tried unplugging shit, plugging it back in, etc. No luck. I was beginning to think that there was something wrong with the game, but of course, it's the exact copy that everybody else has with the exact PS2 that everybody else has, so there's no way that this is a "hardware/software" issue. Eventually, I gave the manual to Shellie to figure out what was wrong, as I fucked with it some more. She spotted the following instruction in the manual:

"This game only works with the Playstation2 Dual Shock 2 controller. Playstation Dual Shock controllers will not work with this game."

WTF?!? When I bought my Playstation 2, it came with a PIECE OF SHIT GARBAGE controller, that had four seperate buttons, instead of a D-pad, for a digital controller. It's a requirement to get a MadCatz controller, as they are 10x better than the original one. So, sitting here, in my fourth controller slot was this wrapped-up original PS2 controller. And it's the <u><b>ONLY ONE</b></u> that will actually activate the Start button. I've tried plugging the other one back in after hitting Start, but alas, it won't work. WHAT'S THE FUCKING DIFFERENCE?!?? They both look the same.

Therefore, this game that advertises to be a four-player game is now a one-player one, and I have use this fucked up controller to boot. I took the game out and put in "Zone of the Enders", which I am enjoying now with my MadCatz controller. I plan on (trying to) return the game tomorrow.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Sooo you're basing your experience with the game on your difficulties with the controller.....</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>I do have one, but it's the only one. That's the point. It told me that it was a multi-player game, but it didn't say anything about these stupid controllers (which look the same anyway).</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>the same thing will happen with Dynasty Warriors 4, some games REQUIRE analog buttons.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>There is no guarantee that all PS2 games will work with the PSX controller, they've always said that. I don't blame Sony at all</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>Devil May Cry is probably a lot more fun than The Bouncer anyway. But I don't get this problem with the standard d-pad. It's one pad underneath the plastic, it's just that only four parts of it show above the plastic.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Gotta love Nintendo's patent....that's why the earlier Saturn pads sucked too and the Xbox ones are oddly shapd as well</div>

i agree that back in the day Nintendo controller kicked major ass, but i much prefer the PS and PS2 controllers to anything current or historical...

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>although, i did really love those acii pads for the SNES that has all the turbo and auto switches. Other than that i have never had a good experience with a 3rd party controller, especially madcatz, those fuckers break in 2 hours or just suck from the get go.

I ONLY buy playstation brand stuff for my PS2 now as it seems everything else is terribly made.

Nintendo should have stuck to its own formula of functional simplicity. The N64 and gamecube controllers are bad, IMO. PS stole the functional simplicity and made it an art in their controller.</div>

<div style='font: italic bold 14pt ; text-align: center; '>It's actually because it's one of the games with pressure sensitive buttons so that is why it only works with the ps2 controller. becuase the buttons on the ps1 controllers aren't pressure sensitive</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I liked the N64 and 'Cube controllers, the only thing they weren't good for was fighters, but they were even better for other things. DC controller, too</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>It's a pretty dumb piece of technology. I tried it with the buttons, and it's hard to focus on weak vs. strong attacks with the button sensitivity.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>Now, the analog pad is awesome, OTOH, especially when compared to N64's terrible idea of an analog stick.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>The old one had a circle with the dots where the U, D, L, and R should be. That's before they caved in and paid the Nintendo fee and got a proper "cross" D-pad, which was much better</div>
