Almost makes you wonder if it was intentional.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Think about it. Games like this are really made huge by their online play. HL was huge because of the excellent mods. This 'leak' might give them an edge against DoomIII and any others by creating a community of happy modders before it even releases! The anticipation is so huge, there will definately be people drooling over the opportunity to get a head start.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>I realize this, but they sound genuine. I also don't buy the "modders can get a head start" rationale. Valve, like any company, wants to control what outside parties have access to.</div>

You are right...

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>With the HL source leaked, they can get a head start. The mod crew for CS and DoD can jump on it, and possibly we'll see more mods, better mods than those two titles. I think it's a pretty good idea, especially since HL2 probably won't make it out till 2004.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Why? Id released code for the original Doom wayyyy back that basically created the mod community for these games today. It doesn't really hurt them at the bank either, as most mods require the full version for play anyway. To me, it's pure genius if they leaked it themselves.</div>
