Over the past few weeks I have been playing a number of games, mainly on SNES and Genesis since I just recently hooked them up: Uniracers, Battle Blaze, Illusion of Gaia, Ogre Battle: Person of Lordly Calibur, Sonic 1, 2, 3, NHLPA 93, NHL 94, etc.....

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Illusion of Gaia, it's just one of those games that I forgot how good it was. The dialogue in it is fun, and the gameplay is also fun, it's not as advanced as Terranigma, but it is fun. The game gets you right into the story a lot faster than Terranigma does. Right now I am in the Aztec ruins, and I am still having a lot of fun. Now, this game I definately think is the best of the early overhead adventure games on SNES, and Terranigma the best of the later ones. The reason being is that the gameplay is spot on (no delays in hits or unregistering hits like in Secret of Mana), the dialogue and story are the best, and there's a lot of funny stuff that happens, it also is the most atmospheric. To top it of, it has the difficulty levels that will allow the game to always remain engaging (specifically unlike Zelda: Link to the Past).

Final Fantasy III, I just finished the Opera Scene and arrived at the Empire. I played Chrono Trigger earlier in the year, both games are quite good. I find Final Fantasy III to be more engaging though, mainly because there is a lot more to do at any given time. Characters and graphics are about even, as is music, though I like to give the edge to Final Fantasy III because I find there are more memorable tracks, and a much greater variety in the music. I'm playing through without Espers since I know this game inside out; I am also going to try doing FFT with just Ramza soon.

Ogre Battle 64; this is the development team that will be making the new Final Fantasy. This is my third time through, I have never finished it, I lent it to a friend last year and just got it back during the summer, he played through twice and finished it at 68 hours on the second attempt; I don't think I'd be able to do it in much less time. Normally I can finish RPG's quickly, but this is one of the longest out there. The story is like FFT's (well of course), it's just on a larger scale due to the type of game it is.

Battle Blaze: It is a fighting game with six characters in it, you have four possible moves per character, a strike, a block, a jump strike, and a throw. This game I think is the first real fighting game ever to be released in North America, it came a year before Street Fighter 2, but it has got to be the worst fighting game I have ever played. Street Fighter 2, at least had 7-8 moves you could do =P

NHLPA/NHL - Well, the NHL games were the Sega version, and the NHLPA were the SNES version. They are virtually identical. The major difference is that the SNES version was slightly better tweeked, the sound effects were better, the game moved more quickly, and you could fight. It is similar between Hit the Ice on SNES and Hit the Ice on Sega Genesis.

Uniracers - Always fun, one of the best games ever to be made. It was made by DMA I believe, now known as Rockstar. It's a 2D side scrolling racer that goes at enormous speeds, there are tons of stunts involved that can score you points and make you go faster. It also has a lot of score keeping, and the game still has the player data intact from 10 years ago (though some of the names have changed since the game is the most popular among my games at the moment). Multiplayer is excellent, and you can waste hours on it. It is one of the best games on SNES, and it is a shame that there isn't another like it except Excite Bike way back on NES (but yeah, Excite Bike to Uniracers is like Pong to Virtua Tennis). Warning though, the music can get stuck in your head for weeks.

Kirby Superstar - I only played a bit of this, I finished up three of the games, Meta Knight, the Mine one, and the basic one. The game, in my opinion, is probably the best 2D traditional platformer currently available, and I wonder why they don't make any more Kirby games like this? If they have and I missed it, please tell em! The multiplayer aspect of it is excellent.

Shadowrun - to put it as politely as possible, this game aged terribly. If you've played through it once already, you'll find that you know exactly what to do, BUT, you'll spend 95% of your time increasing levels, which is not fun. The SNES version isn't as bad as the Genesis version, I only played each for about an hour to two hours though.

The Sonics - I didn't play 3D Blast, that was a horrible game. The other three we played through a few times, the second one got about 5-6 playthroughs (though I wish they did those on the Gamecube version that I have lent out at the moment). Mainly for the second one it has been just to see how fast we can get the Chaos Emeralds, still haven't done everything perfectly (which would have them all by the Chemicle Plant Zone). The games are all very easy now, but they are still fun, the latter ones are only fun with multiplayer, in my opinion, if playing alone, the first Sonic game is the best. The second player doesn't really add much in part 2, but it still is fun to have a second player. My favourite level is Mystic Cave Zone, and my favourite boss is Casino Night.

King Arthur's World - A side scrolling strategy game, very interesting. If you are into games like Worms and stuff, this is similar, only using Arthur and his army instead. You can have fairly large armies, and it is possible to group them into units of various sizes.

Knights of the Round - Another Arthur game, a side scrolling arcade style fighter, like the Ninja Turtles games. Multiplayer is the best way to go, there are three options for characters, Arthur, who is a well rounded fighter with Excalibur, Lancelot who is like an Elf, very quick and uses a saber, and Percicel who uses a large axe and looks like the human steroid Scott Steiner.

Last for now, EVO - an Enix side scrolling evolution simulation game. You begin as a fish, evolve through to an amphibian, a reptile, a dinosaur, a bird or a mammal from there, and from mammal to primate, to human. You either love this game, or you hate it. I love it simply just because I am interested in the concept.

Well, that's all for now. I might add some more to that list later. I just began playing Tales of Destiny 2 again. Maybe I'll get Tales of Symphonia, but I am kind of tired of next generation games, there are so many more fun games in the older generations. For me at least.</div>
