Looks like Blizzard has some WoW kinks to work out.  Thought it was just me until I took a 3 second glance at the WoW forums. :)

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>The excuse given is to prevent overcrowding of noob zones. I suppose forcing people to wait in 300-2000 person long queues (no that is not an exaggeration) is superior. I give Blizzard credit for a new and inventive way to foul up launch day.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Players are perfectly willing to put up with a ton of abuse on MMORPG in general. If every person who claimed to have quit EQ actually did you'd have a negative number of people playing it right now, and WoW will be no different.

And while I don't think launch problems are critical, I'll have to agree with Tort. Having a queue is certainly one of the better ways to get people to stop playing your game. I think people would rather just see the Server go boom and knowing no one can get on instead of being told it's up there but you got to wait in this queue because you didn't login and play for 8 hours straight earlier. It also encourages people to get programs to stay logged on (30 mins afk = boot, which is a dumb, dumb idea) or play long hours, which is totally against what WoW is supposed to be.

Blizzard forgot to steal EQ2's instancing newbie zones idea, i.e. if a newbie zone can support 100 guys just make newbie zone 2 pop up when you get more than 100 guys in it. Their solution was to make everythiggn respawn in 15 seconds which makes it really fun when you just cleared out 3 things and get killed by 3 things that respawned as you're looting the last corpse. But at least death is completely irrelevant in WoW so who cares?

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Depends on the server. The biggest queue is on Archimonde, which every major PvP guild decided to meet on. The fun part is I sincerely doubt any of them will back down, either.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>According to some posters at FoH this problem persists even with lower #s so probably a coding issue rather than bandwidth.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Some servers are just more messed up than others. It doesn't appear to be entirely bandwidth related either (though being on Archimonde is a good way to get slammed by the queue)</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>The fun part is if you let it run all the way to place 0 in the queue, then it starts counting back up. I was up to 2000ish and 28000 minutes when I finally stopped it.</div>
