I just started a new game of Final Fantasy 10, I'm going to play it alongside Baten Kaitos (I think it's about time I get out of the mid-90's and into 21st century gaming again). Both are very high production games, so it should be fun =)

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I found FFX to be extremely painful to play. It will probably be the last FF game I play if that's the direction they're going to take.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I don't see how it's any different from any other FF, or any RPG for that matter. Some random battles are pretty annoying but that's why you get Flee 3 squares from where Tidus starts</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Almost all the big random enemies are at least comparable to boss in difficulty if not harder. I don't really know how they expected you to beat half of the enemy inside Sin without being able to destroy Sin in 5 rounds.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>It was the overall presentation. Plus, when I can figure out how to cheat the system somethings wrong. I got Super Buff in no time, and then it was silly.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>if you even kill half of the stuff you run into going in a straightline to every boss you'd be too strong, and Highbridge enemies are way too easy for the XP they give, but that's not the point.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I agree, although it is difficult to impossible to compare it to the first Final Fantasy, I love them both, but for completely different reasons.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>I as well loved it, but it's also one in the series that I would never ever play through again. Way to long.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I beat it in under 30 hours, wasn't that long... you can run away from more battles if you just level up at Highbridge.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I'm ad Djose Temple and only 7 hours in, that's about a quarter through the game. It's not that long.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Tahoma; text-align: left; '>It is defenitely more linear than the others, but at this point in my life i dont care. I kinda like a game to lead me through since i have limited time to play i hardly ever do the 'extras'. It was good.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I took your advice, and am using flee a lot, things are moving by much more quickly than last time, and I'm having no problems on the bosses either.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>RPG's seem to be a lot more linear than they once were. Xenosaga is even more linear. I didn't think that older ones were any more difficult to find the correct path through though, they just left the option available to take other directions, do side quests, and do things in different orders.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I think I'll also mention that the turn based battle system is one of the best I have ever come across in an RPG; it exposes the action bars on previous FF games for what they are, a gimmick.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>AGGGH. I started reading this thread as I have just purchased FFX for the first time, and my eyes bleed from spoilers. Don, I came up with that spoiler tag thing a long time ago so people WOULDN'T RUIN GAMES FOR ME!!!!!</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Zeus, why can't you just stop being biased and dislike the same games I do? =P</div>
By the time you can get stuf like Drive to AP you could've beaten the game already so it's just overkill. Besides you need Triple AP/Triple Overdrive to really rack up the points

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Now you COULD in theory be at a low level and get the items necessary for Drive->AP by going around and collecting the calm arena capture things, but unless you already know what capture gives what chances are you won't be able to get Drive->AP before you're able to beat the game.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Believe it or not, you'd be getting the better deal if you got my Jaguar for your PS2. Jaguars aren't exactly common, particularly if I give you all the games and the Jaguar CD to go with it</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I'm not smoking anything, perhaps that's the problem. FF9's big problem was that they put so much effort into trying to make the game a throwback to the rest of the series that they didn't give it an identity of its own. It was just bland.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I think they expected everyone on the planet to have played FF1. I haven't, but fail to see how the game would possibly be any more interesting just because I have seen those guys before (Garland and whatnot) in a previous game.</div>
