  • A good idea of the internal structure of Nintendo

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Great article, and on IGN, too! Weird.

Nintendo really needs to burn "Nintendo Software Planning Division". Geist and Advance Wars: Under Fire? I'm hoping to be surprised, but odds are excellent that both of these titles are going to be really poor.

Q: Will Revolution feature more powerful hardware than GameCube?

A: Yes.
Fucking stupid question!

How about this question....

Will the GC have any 3rd party support that won't be ports of games available on the Playstation 3, and the X-Box 2 that will already be out on the market, and people will already own?

Hmmmm, the article is interesting:

-Free online gaming and connection services, now I will take advantage of it.
-2.7 Ghz of power (not as powerful as my new computer, but still a good amount of power)

There's also a lot of interesting speculation in the rumors section, but I'll leave that alone for now unless I find something funny such as "Revolution is so powerful that it can control the weather" or something like that =P

Nintendo desperately needs to break into online gaming. They can't keep relying on the Gameboy to keep them afloat now that the PSP's challenging the throne.

The article does outline a great deal about the online program of both the DS and the new system; free wireless connection to the Internet. Anyways, as I was saying before, until connection to the Internet is free, online gaming will not be very important (it is still at this moment only utilized by between 3% and 5% of gamers).

How does one get "free wireless connection to the Internet"? Basic math and business skills dictates that to be an impossibility.

We'll find out in May. I'm pretty skeptical myself

I'm interested in what the control mechanism will be like. I really just hope it is nothing too expensive.

My guess is they mean it has a wi-fi card, like a laptop. So, you still need an internet connection and wireless router. I think they also mean they will not charge for their online games unlike xbox live.

I think it would be smart to not charge. Hell, computer games like Half Life, CS, WC3, and basically everything else that isnt a MMORPG dont charge shit for their multiplayer.

The charge fee on XBox Live has always been a stupid idea anyway. It's like they were trying to recoup on the fact that the ethernet port was built-into the XBox, unlike the PS2.

Recoup the Ethernet? Bah, no way. They were just trying to cut costs now since they were losing so much per system until recently and fleece the customers later.

The Xbox has been described mainly as a system to establish Microsofts reputation in the market. It doesn't make sense that they would charge for Xbox live, they just gave up capitalization on having the system to go online with. No one thinks of online play when they think of videogame consoles, and I would take a very educated guess and say that nearly all people who play online games do it through PC.

Well, if you build it into the console unit, they will suddenly use it, especially the wireless deal. You can't go wrong with being able to turn on a console without any set up and being able to go online. The console market has been needing this sort of thing for eons. The PC has been assraping the console in the multiplayer market because of the lack of online capabilities.

All the consoles need to do now is add a wireless keyboard and mouse for certain games, or at least do something like sell an MMO that comes with it. Fucking consoles are pretty much becoming like computers anyway. It would be great if these wireless console stations could play MP3s from a Samba (Windows) share.

This is why the two months free cards are more common than a Sine bitch-fest.....

Heh, I've been playing on live for about 5 months now on those free cards. My roomates have as well for about 2 months. Hmmn, should probably remind them to cancel/resubscribe.

Speaking of which, I havent' seen you or Ianman on for quite some time Zeus. Ian is playing WoW I know, but you have no such excuse.

I have this thing called "work" which has taken over my life. I work about 55 hours a week without commuting (3-4 hours a day), so, I don't have much of a social life right now. The GB is the only gaming I get in
